When Dreams Become Reality

Part 7.2

The next morning I woke up in an empty bed. Last night I slept better than I ever have. Being in Patricks arms are so peaceful and welcoming. I don't think I could ever not sleep without being in his arms. I begin to wonder where Patrick went to. I decide to head downstairs and see his mom in the kitchen with a cup of coffee.

"Good morning dear." she says as I walk into the kitchen.

"Good morning. Do you know where Patrick went?"

"He had to go check out everything for the race tomorrow before his press interview today and he didn't want to wake you."

"Oh ok thanks." grabbing a cup of coffee and sitting at the kitchen table across from her.

"So since we are alone why don't we get to know each other because I have a feeling we are going to know each other for years to come."

"Well um I don't know what Patrick told you about me so I'm just going to go from the basics. I grew up in Nebraska then after college I moved to Seattle with one of my friends from high school. A few months ago I moved to LA to join my mentor and friend in her private practice. Oh I guess I should probably tell you what I do. I'm a neonatal nurse and I love being able to save the smallest babies you will ever see lives."

"Wow you certainly have huge ambitions and have fulfilled them well. Now tell me about your family."

"Well I have both of my parents still and I don't know how Patrick does it with his dad gone and you being sick, but he is so strong and that is one of the many reasons why I love him. I have a brother who is here because of a liver transplant at six months old and I'm so glad I have him even if some days I want to kill him but don't all siblings want to kill each other. I don't have a big immediate family but if you expand out my dad is one of nine and my mom's dad is one of eleven. My mom is only one of three so not huge but I love my family I did more with them when I was younger than my friends we are so close and I worked for one of my aunt and uncles in high school so I was around family all the time."

"Family is such a great thing it truly is. Do you want to have kids in the future?"

"Of course but first you have to find the right person to be with and I seriously can't wait to be a mom. I work with babies everyday and I would never think of not being a mom."

"Do you think you found the right person?"

"Honestly I think I have and I get scared because I think wow this is to good to be true. I love Patrick and from the first moment I have always pictured a future with him and I'm so happy that I have found that person and it scares me because I don't want to be hurt."

"I can defiantly see that you love my son very much and I have never seen him so happy before in his life. It is hard for him not having a dad and me being sick. I'm so glad he found that happiness in his life thank you for giving my son that happiness."

We were interrupted by the front door opening and Patrick walking into the kitchen. His eyes immediately started sparkling at the site of his mom and me talking. He walks over to me giving me a kiss and saying hi to the both of us. I then notice the time and get up to head upstairs to get ready.

We are now on our way to the press conference for the challenge. When we pull up there is so many people there it is truly unbelievable how many people come out to support a great cause even if many our news stations and paparazzi it is still nice that they are here for this event.

We head over to the stage and I stay off to the side next to Amanda while Patrick goes up to be interviewed.

"So Patrick can you tell us about your relationship with Samantha?" was the first question that was asked. To be honest I was not happy this is about raising money for the Dempsey Center not to show off our personal life.

"I will not be asking any questions involving Samantha. This is about the challenge so if you are here for things involving my private life you can just leave because I will not be answering any of those questions." Patrick says and I breath a sigh of relief that he didn't go into our relationship. Even tough we are publicly dating I still want it to be mainly private.

Patrick than goes on answering questions about the Dempsey Center and Challenge. After about a hour we are back at his mom's house relaxing before the long day of racing tomorrow.
