Part 37

Breaking News.

We are so deeply sad to report that Patrick Dempsey's daughter, Kaylee, has been rushed to the hospital where she later died. We don't know the cause of her death, but we are so truly heartbroken for the family and we send our thoughts and prayers with them in this sad time. Patrick and his wife, Samantha, have another daughter Lily together. They were born only two weeks ago. Stay tuned to E! for more news on this tragic situation.

Patrick's POV

We are now how from the hospital. Sam was quite the whole way home. We learned that Kaylee had a tumor in her stomach that grew way to fast for us to figure out what was wrong. I suggested that Lily should go to Carly's for a few days while we figure everything out, but Sam started crying again and I knew she really needed her other daughter.

Once we got home Sam didn't waste time getting out of the car and getting Lily out of her car seat. I sit in the car for who knows how long crying. Just last night we were talking about how wonderful it was to get two perfect babies and then this happens to us. It isn't fair. Seeing my wife break down when we got the news was something I never wanted to experience. I knew I had to be strong for her, but I couldn't take it anymore. Once I get my emotions together I finally get out of the car. I walk inside and search for my wife and daughter. I finally find them in the nursery. Sam is sitting in the rocking chair holding Lily close to her while she looks at her with so much love and sadness.

"Hey." She whispers so softly I barely hear her.

"Hi." I give her a sad smile.

"It helps holding Lily."

"Yeah she has that effect on people."

"You should hold her. You look like you need it." She says getting up and walking over to me.

"I rather hold the both of you. Let's go to our bedroom and sit in bed together."

As we lay in bed with my wife and daughter in my arms I can't help but feel the feeling of something missing. Kaylee was the perfect mix of my wife and I. Lily is all me. I loved seeing the parts of Kaylee that are all Sam.

"We will be ok." My wife whispers.

"Yeah we will."

We just layed our daughter to rest today. It was so beautiful. We are now at home cuddling up in bed watching tv. Lily is laying in the basinet at the end of our bed.

"We should go somewhere. Get out of town and just for a week. We can drive somewhere take Lily with us." I say.

"Yeah let's do that. We could use that."

A/N I know short chapter but I couldn't leave you all hanging. This was a very hard chapter to write and it probably didn't help also watching Marley and Me at the same time as writing this. Let's just say I'm an emotional wreck between the two.
