When it All Comes Down

Chapter 4

    So  the damage was: my left leg was broken, I had to get stitches because I was stabbed, I had a concussion, minor bleeding from small cuts, and a lot of colorful bruises. I was able to go, but I had to wait to go back to school, which I was grateful for. I had caught up in all of my homework thanks to Zero and all his help.  He would come by almost everyday just to see if I was ok. He is a very sweet boy, I was happy to call him my friend.

    “Hey best friend! Are you happy that you finally get to go back to school tomorrow?” Zero asked after he stormed into my room.

    I groaned inwardly. I hate the fact that I start school again tomorrow. “Hey Zee, and no I am not happy because of that. Why would I be?”

    “ I don’t know, but hey, do you need a ride to school? Because if you do I’ll take you? If you want me to?” he asked skeptically

    “Well I don’t think I would be able to ride on your bike with my leg like this.” I stated whilst pointing at my leg. A look of sadness spread across his face when he realized he couldn’t take me to school. His face looked so depressed I almost told him that I would get on his bike just to see him smile again.

    “Wait!” Zero yelled making me jump at his sudden outburst. “ I have a car as well! I forgot I had one I haven’t used it in so long.” He stated happily. How does some forget that they have a car? I thought to myself.

    “Ok then, since it seems like I have no way of getting out of this, you are now my very own personal driver.”

    “I can be more than just your personal driver, I  can be your personal something else.” He said while nudging me with his elbow and wiggling his eyebrows.

    “Your lucky my leg is broken or I would get up and leave you here.” Sometimes Zero could be a bit of a weirdo. Even though I acted like I didn’t like it, deep down inside I knew that I did.

    “And here I was thinking that you loved me I see now that I was very wrong.” He said clutching his heart in mock sadness.

    “In your dreams Zero.” I got up and tried to stand.  Alright Elly you can do this. I thought to myself as I tried to stand.  I did it! I thought proudly. Once I was standing I pulled my shirt down, that had ridden up while I was sitting on my bed. I looked around my room for my crutches, they were leaning up against my closet door, where Zero had placed them yesterday.

    I took one step toward them and before I knew it I was falling sideways onto the floor. I lay on my back staring at the ceiling frustrated. I could hear Zero laughing from above me on my bed. That jerk! How dare he laugh at my pain!

    “What is the point in you being here if your not going to help me?” I growled through clenched teeth. I rolled myself over and got on one knee and started to make my way over to my crutches. All the while I was dragging my broken leg behind me. The whole time I was semi-crawling, semi-dragging myself to my crutches Zero was laughing at me.

    “I’m sorry. It was just so funny. It was like watching a cartoon!” He continued to laugh like the baboon he is. I finally reached my crutches and hoisted myself up again. I to see him clutching his stomach and rolling around on my bed as he continued to laugh. He was rolling so much he feel off the bed and hit the floor with a huge thud. Even though he just feel off the bed he continued to laugh. It wasn’t even that funny!

    With my crutches in there right spot I made my way slowly over to my door. I walked out into the hallway and slammed the door behind me. I could hear zero start to move around in my room as I walked down the vacant hallway. The next thing I knew I was downstairs and I had no clue how I did it. I stopped by the front door, grabbed my jacket and put it on. I also slid my foot into one of my vans since I only needed one shoe. Then checked to see if I had my keys in my pocket. I was about to open the door when I heard Zero.
