When you are a young woman who just embarked on your own journey to find life, love can become a misleading factor. I adjusted my skirt before crossing my legs, the sweet scent of coffee filled my nostrils. My friend Giana called me the weird one because i enjoyed the aroma from coffee but totally despised drinking one. I sipped my cinnamon tea, watching the busy street with cars making their way to the destination in mind. My phone rang waking me up from my day slumber. " Felicia Simmons speaking", i said. "Yes Felicia, I would be running five minutes late to the appointment..just letting you". As a real estate agent, you had to be patient with your clients in other to get business going. "Sure, take your time." "Are you sure about that 'cause if i do..i would be an hour late," He teased. Faking a little laughter, i disconnected the call. Jon Kienosky was a well known investor in the country, huge in the commercial real estate industry. Taking time off to show him the property i listed won't be a pain because i knew how serious he was when it came to this business.
I fished out my headphones from my small laptop bag to listen to some music, while i went through my diary. "Felicia?" Someone called my name, looking up i found a tall man in his early thirties, his shoulder lenght blond hair pulled back. His broad shoulders looked good in the blue shirt he wore, looking down i saw he was wearing slippers. "Am sorry for the delay, shall we beginning?" he said before noticing the fact i was staring at his feet. "Oh, my shoes i had alittle issue...i don't think you would like to hear that story." I chuckled admiring how lively he was. Someone who saw the way he behaved would never believe he was a man who owned more twenty properties that made him some good cash. "I guess i should introduce myself formally....I'm Felicia Simmons, a real estate agent with Dubin real estate services." He stared at me with a smile on his face. Extending his arm, "I am Jon...i don't really do introductions". He grinned at me. Feeling awkward, i took a seat. "So you showed some interest in 64 Havoc?" "Yeah...its a huge property..goodness. I actually stopped by and walked around it myself. How many acres is it again?" "The land in totally is actually 100.5 acres with three APN numbers and the warehouse on it 2000 square feet". "Sounds small compare to how it looks.....i have actually dealt with an agent from your company." "Like who?" "Teresa Harlem?", he questioned. "Ohhh..Terri. Thats so nice." "Are you the only melanin polished woman who work there ?" I gave him a suspicious look. He was actually quite an observant man which shouldn't be a surprise judging from how long he has been in business. "No........The owner actually is melanin polished..to be more precise an African American". He laughed. "I didn't mean to prey..i like to be cheerful while doing business Felicia". "Would you like to offically tour the property?" "Nope no need for that...I just need to reach the appraisal and also I would like you to be the agent for this deal". I smiled, i wasn't expecting him to say that. "Our journey begins here Felicia".
Then i had no idea what those words meant. I used to think that when you love, you love forever. That was our first and last deal as individuals with business in mind. We got married three years later. I can still see the picture in my memory, plus it all seems like it happened yesterday. It felt like yesterday, but when i look at my son who is now sixteen years old i realise its almost two decades ago. The first few years of marriage was fun, i never wanted to have kids actually. I wanted it to be just the two of us, our love and career. But when the later years came, divorce sets in and became something to give a thought.
Hope you enjoyed it. Please tell me what you think, and please share and maybe give it a vote. Thank you so much!!! Cheers- N.Y POET
