Felicia's pov
Saturday 5:08 amI stirred around the third time. My head felt heavy on my neck-- my breathe hot on my skin. Sitting up i held my head, sleep was far off the my budget considering the time. The restlessness kept growing each time i changed position. Slowly getting of the bed, i dragged myself to the closet changing into some clean workout outfit. Bending down i tied the lace to my puma sneakers.
I closed the front door behind me. Taking in the silence surrounding the semi dark street, i put my hands inside my kangroo pocket.
"I should reach out to Courwell so we can draft a new contract for Diablo", i said to myself making mental notes of the little actiivties i had for the weekend. The cool breeze brushed my face sending chills down my spine. I suddenly regretted my choice of fashion, the image of the thick blue hoodie sitting in my closet came to my mind. I imagined how warm it would have felt if i had worn it.
"You deserve it Felicia...others are asleep...look at you". I disciplined myself. I straightened my back stopping to do some stretch. A black lexus drove pass with the head light blinding me for a second.
"Why did i leave home again?" a pang of laziness washed through me. I sighed pitying myself.
I started jogging sluggishly. My legs were weak but still alert enough to support me. My hands moved to and fro, my eyes followed the trails in front.5:20 am
Dawn started breaking, my head became clearer although i still had the urge to lay down. I halted beside the stop sign, breathing heavy i placed my hands on my knees.
"Wow".
I reached to my pocket for my phone. Realizing i left my cell phone at home, I facepalmed myself allowing my hands to come in contact with my sweaty forehead.
I looked back and forth.
"I should go back home now".
Gradually, i returned from where i came from. Wiping my face with my sleeves, i had some footsteps behind me. I turned around to meet the empty street again. From the time i left home till this very moment i have not seen a single person except from the cars that drove pass. I tilted my head to the left confused.
Resuming my dreadful walk home, i allowed myself to enjoy the scenery with the little brightness.
i paused my steps, i would have sworn i heard someone following me. I turned around, there was a man in a black hat, blue jeans and navy green jacket coming behind me.
"Hi", he greeted huskyily walking past me.
I studied his back .
"He is not from this neighbourhood..thats for sure."
He crossed the street walking the opposite direction.Ashton's pov
"Ashton there is a package for you", Brusell said, checking the name on the brown box.
"A package?".
"Since when did you start receiving packages at work mehn?" he teased smiling. Brusell was in his late twenties. His burly body had a personality way different from the happy virus rusell everyone knew. Placing the package in front of me, he tapped it slightly before returing to his desk.
"Thank you Brusell", i yelled.
He flashed me a thumbs up.
My gaze returned box.
"I don't remember order-.......felicia".
I checked the the small calendar on my desk.
"Ohh". it dawned on me i had ordered a custon diamond necklace for Felicia's birthday. The memory of that evening came back to me. It was still clear, the wound still bled revenge. Its been weeks since our break up. its been weeks of me staring at my phone waiting for her to call and apologize. I was watching her closely, i had my radars up but I had to have a reason to charge. I tried to understand her and the words she shared that evening.
"Wednesday". I glanced at the calendar one more time. "i would see you on wednesday fel".Felicia's pov
"What are you doing this wednesday mom?"
I passed Tanney the jar of Nutella.
"Why you asking...is something wrong at school?"
Tanney looked at me surprise. His brown eyes were puzzled -- his mouth was half open with the bread in his right hand.
"Are you always suspicious of me?"
"Answer my question young man..what crime did you commit this time?"
Tanney held his hands up surrendering.
"I did nothing..i swear".
"Then why did you ask me that?"
"Its your freaking birthday that day". he said slightly offended.
I froze.
i had just overreacted. I cleared my throat.
"Well.."
"You see...you think all i do is cause trouble".
I sipped my tea, avoiding eye contact with him.
"Then you do that...stop acting cute Mom". He said folding his arm.
"Fine..i am sorry. I don't have anything planned that day".
"You forgot didn't you?"
"Is it that obvious?"
"There you go again..when would start paying attention to yourself".
I felt like a child being lectured by an older sibling.
"Wait..who is the parent here?"
He gave up. Stuffing the bread in his mouth, he ignored.
He was right, i had to pay attention to myself. I had no excuse for that.
"Do you have plans that day?"
"Yeah."
"What??"
"Skip school...since its the last day and its your birthday".
I rolled my eyes.
"What was i expecting from you?"
He laughed.
"Lets have dinner with Dad....and maybe we would do anything you want to do with you".
I smiled at my little sweetheart.
"When did you grow up?"
"There you go again..its about you..not me".Xavier pov
"I want the regular?" i said.
The chinese guy nodded, putting his hands in his pocket he brought out a little ziploc.
"I gon' charge you more this time....expensive dude".
I rolled my eyes. Pulling out my wallet i brought out a hundred dollar bill.
We exchange a handshake, exchanging the ziploc and money at the same time.
"You pay more next time".
I smirked driving away.
"I am going to have to change dealers."
"You said that the last time?" Lisa flipped her hair.
"I would have to do it this time."Pulling into the safeway plaza parking lot a cop flagged me down. Hesitating i stopped the car at the shoulder of the road.
"Why are you stopping Xavier?"
"Is that even a question ?" i flared. Glaring at the rear view mirror, i watched the cop approach me. He knocked on my window asking me to roll it down.
"Hey fellow".
"Hi.."
The cop stared at Lisa who avoided his eyes.
"I see y'all high....whats in the ziploc?"
"Nothing just food."
"May i see it?"
"Why would you want to see my food?"
"May i have your driver's license too".
I averted my eyes.
"I-I".
"Californian Id ?"
I reached for my pocket pulling out my id.
"Xavier Collins". The cop read my name.
"Are you friends with that kid Tanney Kienosky?"
I looked at Lisa before answering the question.
"Yea"."What was that about?" Lisa asked when the cop left for his car.
"What do you mean?"
"Why did you say yes?"
"We better comply Lisa.......I don't want my parents hearing about this".
"I doubt.....we were caught with drugs, speeding and no freaking license dude..come to your senses."
"I would handle it okay".
I closed my eyes searching head for a solution.
The police officer returned.
"Well..you could be convicted with traffic violation for speeding.....leaving out the drugs and no license", he smirked. "I could help you out if you help me out Xavier".
I stared at the cop.
"I would be willing to comply", i said weirdly.
"Xavier!" Lisa yelled.
"Stay out Lisa".Thank you so much for reading this chapter.....please tell me what you think. Was this chapter boring ??
