The sunday sun was hot as it threw its blade at us, The californian weather was becoming unpredictable with each passing season.
"Ahhhh", Giana groaned.
"Isn't it suppose to be fall yet, the sun should have some mercy". she said pulling up in front of my house. The street was quiet which was expected as it was a sunday afternoon.
"At least you pampered yourself a little...just in three day".
"I am never going on a trip with you ever again.....look how much money i spent", i whined.
She gave me a sacarstic look.
"You spent it on yourself sweetheart...you have to learn to pamper you from time to time".
I rolled my eyes getting out of the car.
"Is the trunk open?"
"uhhuhhh".
I pulled out my luggage with some extra shopping bags.
"Thank you Gi."
Giana blew a kiss at me. "That new hairstyle suits you perfectly".
Laughing, i pulled out the house key.
I carried my load to the front door as Giana drove off. A little brezze came, cooling the atmosphere. Sticking my hair behind my ear, i carried the bags in."Hey", a masculine voice said. I dropped my bag on the couch, walking to the front door.
"Oh hey".
"Oh a cop", my mind went as i scanned him. I pulled my hair in a messy pony tail while he pulled out his note.
"And you are Felicia Simmons, am i right?"
"Yes you are..so.."
"While you were away, a nearby neighbour complained about some noise...actually a loud music coming from your home".
I nodded my head.
"After checking it out, your son held a party here that night without any parental guidances..since he is still a minor, i had to speak with you."
I frowned my face. My conscience was like I told you shouldn't leave him alone. I tried to keep my cool, thinking of what i should with Tanney.
"Ma'am"
"Oh yes...my son is actually with his father right now so i would talk to him as soon as his home." i replied completely out of it.
"By the way, I am Ashton Waters", he extended his arm.
"Yeah..Felicia as you know it....is there anything else you would like me to do?"
Ashton hesitated.
"Not really..i would be back after you speak with your son. I am one of the officers who patrol this area..so-"
I cut him off. "Yeah...thats nice..if thats all i would like to return to what i was doing".
"Yeah sure..Talk to you soon".
I closed the door behind me. I felt the anger flaring up in chest.
"Breathe... Felicia...Breathe".
It was not like i was going to do anything less than grounding him for eternity.
"If i let this anger grow, i am not going to handle this situation well".
I stared at the phone for awhile before letting everything just go.
"Let me allow him enjoy his weekend with Jon." I said out loud convincing no one but myself.I invited Jon over for dinner to discuss Tanney's behaviour because just didn't want to ground him, it would make no difference to him. I decided we have a small gathering so we can hear his own part of the story.
I turned the chicken breast to allow the other side to cook, chopping some carrots, the front door opened.
"Hey mom". Tan greeted me with the I know you heard kind of look.
"Hey sweetheart".
He turned and stared at Jon.
"Mom are you alright..i mean you should be going of".
I smiled at his honesty.
"If i do that maybe....you would join the chicken breast on the cooker".
"Go wash up and come downstairs for dinner", Jon said rescuing him.
He walked into the kitchen, leaning against the wall.
"How was your day?"
"It was the same as usual."
"I am so proud of you....you are not boiling as you always do".
I gave him a small smile.
"I just thought that grounding him would make no sense...this isn't his first time."
"He is a teenager Fel..you want to hear what i did doing my own time?"
I lifted my gaze at him. "Did he tell you to say that?"
Jon laughed, his laughter lifted the stuffy mood in the room. I have always applauded how lightly he took things.
"What did you do when you were his age?"
I added some curry to the soup cooking, wiping my hands on the napkin, i threw the napkin at Jon.
"No jokes....be serious so he can take us seriously".
"Yes ma'am."I watched Tan eat little chunks of his food waiting for me to pounce on him any time soon.
"So dear".
He stared at me like i had something on my face.
"Mom, dad", he said calmly. "If you are going to get angry please feel free too.....this mood is so uncomfortable for me".
Jon held back the laughter.
"Tan would tell us why you decided to hold a party without informing us at least?"
He placed his fork down. I already knew my son so well, he was just like me, he was calculating his words and answers getting ready to dish it out with emotion.
"Well, i wanted to actually host a party for the first time".
I felt the anger coming. I turned to Jon giving a sign with my eyes.
Jon cleared his throat, "Son, we both know its not the first time but its the first you've been caught".
Tan lowered his eyes to gain sympathy.
"I am sorry mom, i am sorry dad....i would inform you whenever i decide to throw a party."
"Did you have girls over?", i asked.
Jon and Tan gave me the duh look.
"Fel...whats the need for a party without them".
I adjusted my chair.
"We might take it lightly now...but a cop was involved. You have to be more responsible because you are almost an adult in the eye of the government but not to us".
Tan nodded.
"Wait..you are not grounding me??" he said half excitedly.
"Whats the need..i actually prefer this method", i said scooping my food into my mouth.
"Yeah..right".
I noticed the little smile the boys gave each other.
I knew Jon would spoil Tan if i gave him the chance, he was just too carefree to allow him raise a child.Thank you for reading this chapter.
I actually love how well their family get along.
Tell me what u think and maybe give it a little vote and share.
