Jon's POV

"Sir its going -"

I suddenly stood up dashing out of the police station. A powerful overwhelming jolt ran through me. I felt uncomfortable after Felicia hung up on me. I could not concentrate on what the lawyer or the officer was saying. The Felicia I know was a very persistent woman -- knowing how to get what she wants no matter what - it was something I feared and loved at the same time. I rushed to my car, pulling out of the parking lot I tried calling Felicia's cellphone again.

The number you've called is not reachable--

I disconnected the call impatiently, checking the time she had called.

Ten minutes ago...

I joined the freeway speeding uncontrollably with no destination in mind.

Arriving at the hospital, I raced to the emergency ward without hesitation. Ripping the curtain open, I found Tanney alone. I placed my hands on my waist, catching my breath I looked around to see if I could see her familiar face.

"Excuse me, I have you seen the woman that was just here.."

"you mean his mother.. she left a while ago", the male nurse answered.

"Who are --"

"Thank you". I said rushing back to the car.

A teardrop moist my cheek. The speedometer on the dash board indicated that I was going twenty miles per hour.

"Damn.... Felicia what are doing, don't make me worry helplessly".

I was crazy to think that she could handle it by herself. I should have tried even though she resisted. My son was laying in the hospital but here I was basically tempting death. The blue shirt I was wearing became suffocating but I was way out of my body to care. The sound of siren got my attention. Glancing at the rear view mirror, I noticed the highway patrol was hailing me. I cussed under my breath, slightly hitting the steering wheel I pulled over. Rolling down the partition the cold evening breeze slapped my skin. The vehicles greeted the road, gliding by oblivious to each other's brood.

"You seem to be in hurry there??" The high patrol who seemed like he should be in late fifties asked. I nodded my head not finding the need to explain my actions. Nonchalantly, I reached for my wallet, patting my pocket, I realized didn't have it on me.

"Damn".

"You seem like you don't have your license on you fellow", He said smirking a little. "What's your name ??"
"Jon...Jon Kienosky".

The highway officer read my face before he spoke. "I won't write you a ticket now....you look like you should know better. Slow down everything would be fine". He reached for his pocket pulling out his business card, "When you get your license bring it to me". His trust bewildered me.

The front door to Felicia's house was open. Letting myself in, I yelled her name as loud as I could. I jogged to the upper room, checking all the room. I came to halt when I came to Felicia's room. I walked in slowly, picking up all the papers scattered on the floor.

"Felicia", I called out in a whispering manner this time. The divorce documents was the first paper I recognized. A mere piece of paper with great significance -- a recyclable material that showed the breaking of a bond. I eyed the paper, squeezing into a small paper ball, I threw it behind me. I searched the closet to find it in a mess too. Frustrated, not knowing where to search I refused to crash. There were no CCTVs inside the house making it a hopeless option. I dialed her cellphone once more this time with baseless hope of hearing her voice.

"C'mon Fel...Please..".

"Hey Giana".

"What's up?" Giana's voice from the other end suffused the ambience of the car.

"Have you heard from Fel today at all...did she tell you if she was going somewhere?"

"I spoke to her yesterday at Tanney's game. Why, is something wrong??" Giana asked out of curiosity and sudden concern.

"I would call you back okay".

"Hey tell me what's--"

I hung up on Giana. Arriving at the hospital again, I took my time to get out of the car, praying that I would find Felicia's delicate face sitting beside our son.. I walked through the now familiar emergency room slowly. I observed the busy milieu surrounding the unit. The strong yet strange smell of Iodoform penetrated my nostrils.

Tanney was still alone with no signs of recovering. I sat down beside him. My shoulders ached which was a usual when I was stressed or worried. I searched my head for any possibilities and idea. Instinctively grabbing my phone, I put it away.

"Who do you think you're calling Jon?"

My eyes caught the cellphone in the trashcan. reaching forward, I picked it up studying it closely.

"Isn't this Fel's".

I recalled getting her a new cellphone the week she had destroyed hers. I turned the cellphone on. The screen came alive as the phone booted itself. I furrowed my brows. I felt like I should be somewhere else instead of sitting here. My mind roamed thinking of an important place she could have gone. Felicia was never an outdoor person. When she was not busy with work or other schedules, she would stay home. It made it hard to think of a place she loved because never had one except from home. The phone vibrated as all the miss call notifications came in.

"Its too early to file a missing person report".

Regardless, I called the police station using my connections.
