I woke up right as the sun began to rise. It was still dark in Gabe's room until noon, and he's a deep sleeper. If I get home soon he shouldn't suspect a thing. My son's sleep schedule is just as bad as mine, but that's entirely my fault. The list of the bad things that are caused by me could go on for miles. That's just one of them.

I looked over and saw what I usually wake up to every morning. At least he isn't staring directly at me, awake and ready for round two. Sometimes waking up is the worst part.

His back was turned to me, for a moment I almost forgot who he was. That's when I remembered, this wasn't just another sad sack I didn't even know the first name of. This was an old friend, a willing one at that. I was hoping he could still pay me, but I just might let this one slide. He is a friend after all.

I groaned and sat up, gathering my clothes from the floor and putting it all back on. Usually I'd get the money before I'd even head upstairs but last night I was pretty drunk myself. Maybe it was the fact I knew who he was, maybe it was the alcohol, maybe it was the fact every time I take a man's money before selling my body I feel another stab to the chest. Whatever it may be, I just want to go home.

I strapped on my heels and heard a groan from the other side of the bed. He turned over and looked at me, squinting hit eyes from the light. "Leaving so soon?"

"Yep." I replied

He made an almost annoyed type face, but I knew he wore that expression a lot. "Its like, 5 in the morning." He complained

"I know." I answered

"Got somewhere to be?" He asked

"As a matter of fact, I do." I said

He watched me put my black dress back over my body and squinted his eyes in concentration, then finally spoke up "Do I know you from somewhere?"

I laughed a bit, "I'd like to think so."

"I swear I know you from somewhere...especially since not everyone walking around Tulsa has a Brooklyn accent like you and me." He pointed out

I smirk creeped onto my lips and I gave him a little glance, "You tell me, Texas."

Dallas' eyes lit up and he sat up in bed, "I know those eyes anywhere. You're Calico!"

I laughed at the nickname I forgot I was given. I have heterochrome eyes, which means one is a different color than the other. My right eye is bright sky blue, and my left is a rich violet. It draws attention to me, I honestly hate it. But I can't do anything about them, so I just have to live with it.

Dallas looked absolutely shocked, "Damn, who would've thought I'd ever see you again? We were in junior high together, weren't we?"

"Yep, you commented on my eyes and started to call me Calico. Everyone started to call me Cali and I got mad so I gave you the nickname Texas, but it never stuck like Calico did." I replied

"Yeah I remember, I called you Calico because I saw a calico cat with two different colored eyes and just thought it was normal for calicos to have that. I don't know why, it was kind of stupid. But everyone else seemed to like it." Dallas said

I finished dressing and stood up, "Yep, I saw you last night and almost couldn't believe the odds." I paused and hesitated to ask, "Do you by any chance have like...$5 you can spare?"

Dallas looked taken aback, "What?"

I shook my head, "Nevermind. Its fine."

He still looked confused I asked and just shook it off anyways. I grabbed my stuff and went to leave, "Hey, what's the rush?"

I turned back to Dallas, "I have to go. Maybe I'll see you around or something."

Dallas tried to object more but I just started down the stairs. Half way down the stairs I heard him exit the room and follow, "Doll, what's your real name?" He asked, stopping at the top of the stairs

I turned back, "Lynn." I responded

Dallas nodded, "Lynn, right. I'm-"

"Dallas. I know." I replied, going back down the stairs again

Dallas followed, "Can I get your number or something?"

I made it to the bottom of the stairs and was about to reply but then a tall, buff blonde man called me out. "Hey! You're the slut who's always at my bar!"

Dallas made it to the bottom of the stairs too and furrowed his eyebrows at the man, "What?"

"She's a whore, Winston. If she's yours don't bring her back." He replied

I rolled my eyes, "See you 'round."

Dallas looked like he was going to call back for me but he was having trouble processing everything. I walked out and started home, once again I just hope Gabe isn't awake yet.
