"this might be the happy ending without the ending." - David Levithan

6 years later

"Happy birthday, to you." Everyone sang

"Blow out your candle Austin!" I said

Dallas leaned over the table and helped him out, the small flame blowing out into a tiny plume of smoke. Everyone clapped, "Yay!"

"I want cake!"

I sighed, "Okay Cali I'll get you some cake."

Cali and her friends, along with Gabe and his friends, all lined up for cake. Short after came the boys, standing as if they were 8 and 4 year olds too. I cut the adult's cake for everyone, to where there was only one slice left. I sighed and felt like I should get paid for this. I put the last slice on a plate and asked behind my shoulder, "Want the last one?" I offered to Dallas

He smiled and rested his hand on my shoulder, "No, you deserve it." He said as he kissed me on the cheek

I blushed a little and ate the cake, watching Two-Bit come back and look disappointed at the empty cake sheet. "Aw man, none left?"

"You already had some, Two!" I pointed out

"But I wanted more." He whined

I rolled my eyes, Dallas chimed in "Didn't you do the same thing at Cali's first birthday, Two?"

"You would think by your third kid you'd know to serve extra cake." Two-Bit said

I laughed a little and ate some more of my slice, offering the fork to Dal and he took a bite as well. When you're parents of 3 you soon learn nothing is really ever truly yours anymore.

I sighed and looked at all the children run around like Tasmanian devils with chocolate frosting on their faces. "Why did we let Gabe and Cali invite their friends?"

'Because Cali wouldn't stop whining about her little brother getting all the spotlight." Dallas replied, resting his head on my shoulder and wrapping his arms around my waist.

I shook my head, eating the last bite of cake and setting the plate on the table. Everyone was so occupied with their own cake that we didn't even watch Austin smash his own and squish it with his hands.

He looked about done with it anyways, I lifted him out of the chair, "Let's get you cleaned up, big guy."

Dal reached for him, "I got it."
