My body flung upwards in my bed as I hauled in big breaths, cold sweat ran all over my body making my clothes stick to my skin. My eyelids ripped from each other, revealing the darkness in my room to tell me it was still night. Tears start to pool down my face as I think about the dream- no, nightmare that I had.
~Dream~
I stood in dragon form in a crampped space that was surrounded by darkness with a light above me, though the light wasn't coming from the light bulb, it was just... there. The light rises, showing more of the area around me, I was standing on a rock platform of sorts and in front of me is a night fury. It stood, protecting it's eggs, it gave me a hopeful feeling for them, until she stood protectively around the eggs and started to growl. Once again the light raised, showing the figure that was threatening this mother, which was a viking. {Little gore here, just go to the next inturpting A/N if you don't want to read}He gestured for the dragon to come towards him with a stupid little smirk on his face. Once the night fury charged he dodged last minute, procceeding to go to the eggs where he swung viciously over and over until they all looked smashed up. The dragon had finally recovered, pinning the man down and sending a plasma blast as he cut off her head.{ok children, it's safe now} My eyes, though showed plentiful terror, couldn't manage to peel away from the scene in front of me. My claws dug well into the dirt, wings stretched, ready to fly, a snarl formed on my face but not yet growling. Tears brimmed my eyes when I saw the night fury egg hatch more delicately, and a baby night fury waddled out of the shell. The baby, it was me, this is how I was born, no siblings, no parents, laying in the corpses of my only family that I was supposed to have, minus the viking. The pain for thinking was too much for my brain and I passed out, waking up in the current day.
~Back to reality~
I sat in my bed clutching the covers close to me, sobbing into them. I mean after all, who wouldn't be sad to see the story of how all your family died? Finally when my tears had run dry and I was relaxed the sun was due to peek over the horizon very soon. I pulled myself out of bed, with a poker face and changed clothes, took a shower, etc.
I entered the great hall to find that the gang had just walked in too, by the fact that they hadn't sat down yet. I walked over to join them and sat at the very end of the table and didn't eat a lot. Luckily for me the gang didn't seem to notice or care.
Finally training rolled around and for once Hiccup did pretty good. Now that I think about it, it would make sense he's getting better, he has a dragon to train with for crying out loud! Once training passed I skipped out on lunch, leading myself off to the forest. I lead myself to somewhere I could fly, which ended up being the coastline away from sight of the village. I let my dragon senses kick in to assure no one was there, the sway of the trees, the crickets chirping through daytime, birds calling out. After about 2 minutes of listening for breathing or footsteps to find none, I took a deep breath and let my body expand to my original creature.
I took a glance around and payed attention to know where everything is, then leaned down and back in a pounce position before launching myself airborne. My wings unfolded right before I hit the water and I brushed the tips of my wings against the waves. I spend an hour flying around until I decided to take a break diving into the dragon grass and rolling around, taking it all in. When I stayed still I heard a cry, a night fury's cry. I stood up quick out of instinct and listened closer as it sounded again. I let out a breath when I figured that it was the night fury in the dip of land. I took my time walking to him, noticing the dents in the trees and bugs crawling around. I eventually watched my feet as I walked, not looking up until I realized I made it there.
The night fury was desperately trying to climb the walls, crying out when it didn't make it to the top. I made a general noise of acknowledgement, to which he spun his head around so fast, he probably got whiplash. He called out to me in a desperate tone, asking me to help him in dragon. I gave him a side glance with eyebrows raised in a confused manner, he lifted up his tail and looked back at it. My gaze followed his and my eyes widened when I saw it, his tail was halfed, like someone took a knife down the side of his tail and took off one half of the tail. I bounced down into the hole next to him to inspect it, sniffing and looking at it from all sorts of different angles. I lifted my tail and looked at it for a good while, finally something came back to me. Gobber had said dragons need tails and wings to fly, because without them, we're as good as dead. Looking at the dragon beside me, I gave him an apologetic look, but then I sensed something, my ears twitched, bending all around to listen. I caught breathing to the right of us where I gently turned my head to see a little friend staring at us, when he knew I saw him he stood back and held up his hands. Then something strange happened, the male night fury stood in front of me, spreading out his wings to block my figure, even though I couldn't see his face, I was sure it was in a snarl by the growling that hummed from his throat to sound defensive of something, and I realized what it was. It was me he was being defensive for.
