After what seemed like forever, Hiccup managed to collect himself enough to say, "Y-... You're a dragon?! How is that even possible?"
"Actually, it's not that I became a dragon. It's that I became a human." I spoke, avoiding eye contact. The last thing I really wanted to see right now was the judging eyes from a human, you can watch the emotions swell in their eyes. Saying words even the English language isn't capable of.
"So, why didn't you ever respond to me? And what about the 'dragon' that was in your room? Just how long have you been keeping this secret?" Hiccup began to question me as the shock or realization faded. A small sigh slips out of my mouth, I was worried this reveal would light the Viking within him and make go on a rampage on Toothless and I.
I sent a little smile to Toothless, finally looking at Hiccup and responding, "I didn't respond to you because I didn't have to, Toothless is only willing to work with you because without you he's basically doomed without you to help him. There wasn't really a dragon in my room, I was stalling time to transform back into a human. And for your last question, I've never told anyone until now." I finished, I had sat down, having my wings tucked in and wrapped my tail around my body.
Hiccup simply continued to stare in wonder, "... So I'm the first person you've told about this?" He questioned. I nodded my head.
"Yes. I've been traveling from place to place, but I can't stay in my human form for forever, I have to stretch my wings every once in a while and I end up accidentally getting seen and hunted but they never watch me transform. Since I end up leaving right after getting seen I assume they connect the dots, so I've never go back to somewhere I've been before." I explain.
Shortly after that we say our goodbyes and head home, Hiccup still seems quite shocked about the reveal but doesn't say anything more. As I finally get back to my house a let out a sigh and stretch. I prepare for bed and crawl underneath the sheets. Today was pretty okay. I think to myself as I drift into sleep.
~The next morning~
I can hear gentle tweets and twitters from the birds outside as I roll over, feeling the sunlight warm up my face. I take in a breath and sit up, opening my eyes. I take my time getting ready and stepping outside, I stop for a moment to breathe the fresh air before walking along, through the village.
The village seems a little more empty than usual today, it still bustles with life, but it feels as though there should be more people filing the pathways. As I continue walking, something catches my ears. Sounds of rustling chains come from the docks, I only catch the sound from my extra keen hearing. The chains sound heavy and it sounds like whatever is chained is struggling. My sudden sweat begins to bead upon my forehead as I begin fast walking down to the docks.
As I get closer words begin to fill my ears as well, "Please, dad! You don't have to do this! He just wanted to protect me!" Hiccup shouted.
It wasn't more than a second before the other responded, "Protect you?! Son, this is a merciless beast, they wouldn't protect a human, besides, it could lead us to the nest. Something we've been searching for for generations!" Stoic yelled back to Hiccup. More rattling chains. The docks finally came into sight as I began walking even faster towards the ships.
There were many people running around, gathering supplies, getting onto the boats, checking to make sure the boats themselves were in good condition. On one of said boats, Hiccup and his father stood. Between them, a set of chains sat holding down Toothless, as Stoic continued to tighten the chains on his body. My heartbeat started to pick up, seeing him in danger. I was basically jogging at this point, I finally reached them asking as soon as I reached them, "What's going on here?" I tried my best to hide the worry in my voice.
Stoic looked to me, "This morning we managed to capture a night fury! So we're using it to the dragon nest, to take them all out from the source." Stoic explained, looking back to the chains, "We need you kids to get off the boat now." Stoic said, patting the chains and walking off, presumably to check the preparations for sailing out.
I gave a concerned look to Hiccup as he was taken off the boat. I bent down and pressed my hand to Toothless' nose, he took in a breath as his pupils expanded slightly from the thin slits they were, though they still stayed very thin. I let out little coos, letting him know I would save him, but it might be dangerous to try at the immediate moment. I gently stroked his scales as he whimpered before I was also got taken off the boat.
As we stand on the edge of the docks I feel tears start to streak down my cheeks. I bite my lip as the salty water collects at the bottom of my chin and falls to the ground. I hear Hiccup turn and walk back to the town. I continue to watch the boats shrink into the horizon and my tears continue to fall as I finally start to realize how I feel about the other night fury.
Reluctantly, I turn and follow after Hiccup, we will need help if we want to free Toothless, and possibly a plan. I dry my eyes using my wrists and palms, we will get him back, but I have to be strong until that moment comes.
{987 words. I'm still working away at the story guys, don't worry. I just have a very slow process. Either that or by the time I'm ready to write, it's too late at night. Still, thank you all so much for your support! It helps when I get votes and comments on my story. Love you guys so much, see you in the next chapter!}
