"Uhhhhh" Hiccup kept 'uhh'ing, trying desperately to think of a reason to explain the situation without upsetting Astrid.
"Well?!" Astrid exclaimed, clearly impatient. "What in world are you doing out here in the middle of the woods, with dragons?!" She started shouting by the end of her question, and when she said 'dragons' she sounded repulsed.
"Okay, it's too late to lie... this is where I picked up all of those tricks for dragons. I've been training with Toothless and this other night fury." Hiccup explained, scratching the back of his neck.
Astrid scoffed, "You only named one of them? Why's that?"
"Well I tried to name her but she doesn't ever respond to anything, she doesn't listen to me at all." Hiccup sighed.
Astrid rolled her eyes, "After hearing this, I wouldn't listen to you either." She gazed in my direction, I glared at her and huffed under my breath. "Why would you even choose to train with dragons? Let alone night furies? You are aware of how dangerous they are right? It'd be better to kill them or run." Astrid started to wave her hands with her sentences to exaggerate them. However, that last sentence switched something within Toothless, his eyes narrowed to slits and got into a pouncing position. "Oh my god! Hiccup get down!" Astrid exclaimed as Toothless started to race toward Astrid.
Hiccup fumbled himself out of Astrid's arms, pushing away her weapon and raising his hands for a defensive stance over Astrid. "Toothless, buddy, it's okay, it's okay." After calming down Toothless a little bit he turned slightly toward Astrid and spoke, "You scared him, that's all."
Astrid's eyes were wide with worry for her own life. "I scared him?!" She yelled slightly pushing herself back. After picking herself up from the ground, she hardened her gaze, clenched her hands and promptly turned around and ran.
"And we're dead..." Hiccup's face dropped. Toothless grumbled and began to walk the other way. "Where are you going?" Hiccup turned around watching Toothless. Toothless put Hiccup on his back before flying off through the trees and out of my sight. Pointing my ears in the direction of where they flew off, I paid more attention to the sounds, I could still hear Astrid running for a while longer before her steps disappeared. I could also hear wing flaps every now and then. At the top of the crater Toothless came into view, slowing down to set her on top of the tree before sitting on the tree himself, making the tree bend over the edge of the crater. A drop from that hight would be almost certain death.
Astrid was shouting a lot after she was picked up. "Hiccup! Get me down from here!" Seeing her in such a state made me smirk.
"You have to give me a chance to explain" Hiccup responded, offering his hand to Astrid.
Astrid began to climb to the tree trunk from the branch, "I'm not going to listen to anything you have to say."
"Then I won't speak, just let me show you. Please Astrid." Hiccup pleaded. Astrid peeked down at ground and gave a moment of thought before pulling herself up on the branch and carefully mounting herself on Toothless, right behind Hiccup.
"Okay, now get me down" Astrid demanded. Steadying herself in her seat.
"Toothless, down. Gently" Hiccup asked, patting Toothless's head. Toothless lowered himself, stretching his wings, giving a slight grumble before leaping into the sky.
Deciding to follow them to watch, I unfolded my wings before flying after them. Toothless finally levelled out with the sky just before falling towards the sea, making Astrid scream. Dipping under the water for a short period before breaching and then splashing into the water a couple more times. Once again Toothless shot up into the sky and began to spin as he fell. "And now he's spinning. Thank you for nothing, you useless reptile" Hiccup announced, unimpressed.
"Okay, I'm sorry, I'm sorry! Just get me off of this thing" Astrid said, gripping tightly onto Hiccup. Toothless softened his expression and stopped them from hitting the water. He flew slower than before, and gave a more gentle experience to Astrid. He glided up into the clouds. Astrid began to open her eyes which were closed tight to see the beautiful rays of the setting sun bouncing off of the many clouds in the sky.
Astrid looked around in amazement, even running her hands through the clouds. I myself was in awe at such a beautiful sight, out of all the skies I'd flown through, I'd never seen one so magnificent. After flying through the clouds for a while, we breached over top of the clouds, allowing us to see the night sky above us. At that moment the aurora borealis lit up around us, showering the sky in an array of colours. Flying over a break in the clouds gave clear view of Berk, flying closer to the island and around some of the pillars in the water.
"Alright, I admit it, this is pretty cool" Astrid spoke, "It's amazing, he's amazing." She said, gesturing to Toothless. "So what now?"
Both Toothless and I had a reaction, I found it difficult to focus on what Hiccup and Astrid were saying. Our eyes thinned and we flapped our wings faster, flying back down into the clouds. Other dragons approached beside us, flying in the same direction as us. As the clouds began to clear, it showed the size of the swarm of dragons we were in. Hiccup spoke, but I didn't understand his words, Toothless seemed to growl at what he said. Almost every dragon carried an animal in their claws. The swarm dove between rocks as we navigated to the island, once arriving we flew into a cave. We came upon the middle area of the volcano on the island, dragons dropping the food as they flew over the centre. Looking around Toothless and I found a small platform to perch on and watch everything happening. The last straggler came through, throwing up a single fish before trying to move on. The red death from the middle brought itself up and consumed the gronckle that had brought it the single fish. All of us cowered a little at this sight, tucking ourselves away from the much bigger dragon. After eating the gronckle, it took a moment to sniff.
This time when Hiccup spoke, I understood it, "Alright bud, we've got to get out of here, now." Hiccup commanded, worried for his and Astrids safety. Toothless and I took off just before being devoured by the red death, this triggered all the other dragons to fly away as well. All of us cramming the space of the pathway out before finally emerging and separating into different directions. Finally making it back to Berk, I felt super drained, barely making onto the island before being nicked by a tree accidentally and crashing onto the ground before passing out.
