Percabeth is 19 and engaged. It's summer so they stay at camp.
Third person
It was a nice day at Camp Half-Blood, kids were sparring at the arena, some played volleyball with satyrs and others were practicing their archery. These two on the other hand weren't. They sat together at the dock cuddling and talking.
"-so when I arrived I was totally blown away. Their buildings were magnificent. All those columns and beautiful arches. And then the mosaics in the t-"
Percy just stared at his girlfriend. He was admiring her beautiful blond hair that fell loose on her back (He had taken it out of its ponytail a while ago) and her stormy grey eyes that had that sparkle in them like every time she talked about architecture. He looked at his girlfriend in his arms and started kissing her neck. Because 1) he was bored 2) he liked how it distracts her. Annabeth stopped mid sentence and bit back a moan.
"Perce, were you even listening?" She said a few seconds later. "Nope. But I like hearing your voice..."
Annabeth rolled her eyes but a small smile spread on her lips. She laid her head on his chest and started playing with his fingers. She was about to say something when they heard a lot of screaming coming from the Big House.
"What in Hades is going on there?" Percy asked. Annabeth shrugged.
"I've no idea. Let's go check it out."
She started running to the Big House with Percy on her trail. The closer they came the harder the yelling became.
When they arrived they saw a big crowd standing in front of the cabins. They wriggled themselves through the crowd until they saw the source of the noice.
A little girl not older than 5 was standing in the middle of the crowd, screaming her head off. She didn't let anyone come near her and only started to cry harder and harder when someone tried. Everybody just watched without knowing what to do.
Annabeth had a feeling she knew why the little girl was behaving like that. She recognised it. Her wounds, her trembling, that look in her eyes.
The little girl was a runaway. She was scared to death by all those monsters on the streets and didn't know who to trust anymore. And ending up in a camp full of strangers didn't help either. Annabeth had the same feeling when she arrived at camp but back then she had Luke and this little girl did not. She was alone. Without a trace of a parent of someone who takes care of her.
She looked at Percy, who nodded. Slowly Annabeth started walking in the little girls direction. Everybody went quiet, only the screams of the little girl were heard.
"Hey Sweetheart."
The little girl looked up and stared at Annabeth. Annabeth tried to move closer to the girl but she immediately started crying and screaming again.
"It's okay. I'm not going to move, see?"
She kneeled down where she stood, a few meters away from the girl.
"It's alright. You're safe now. Nothing's gonna happen."
The girl stopped screaming and looked at Annabeth, her eyes full of tears. Annabeth's heart broke. She couldn't stand it that the little girl was so sad and scared.
"Can I come closer?"
She asked the little girl. She nodded but it was clearly visible she didn't trust it at all. Annabeth kneeled down in front of the girl.
"Do you want to tell me your name?"
The little girl shook her head. "Well maybe I should tell you mine first. I'm Annabeth and I'm 19 years old."
The little girl started to relax a bit but stared intensely at Annabeth. "I love books and architecture and I have a boyfriend... well more like a fiancé now but that's not to the point."
With every word she came a little bit closer to the girl until she was only a few inches away.
"Do you want to tell me your name now?"
The girl nodded.
"S-Se-Selene."
She hiccuped and started crying again. Annabeth sat down in front of the girl and scooped her up in her arms. She started whispering sweet and reassuring things to the little girl while rocking her back and forth. Slowly Selene fell asleep.
Annabeth looked up and saw her boyfriend looking at her with a proud look in his eyes. Everyone watched Annabeth as she walked to Percy with the little girl in her arms.
"My cabin?"
Percy asked although he already knew the answer. Annabeth nodded and started walking to cabin 3 with her fiancé at her side. Together they went in and laid the little girl in a spare bed. Annabeth kneeled next to the bed, her hand still in Selene's. Her eyes glossy and deep in thought. Percy hugged his fiancé from behind and kissed her forehead.
"Maybe you should take a nap too."
He said and picked her up to lay her next to Selene. Annabeth let Percy put her into bed. When she laid down next to Selene she asked:
"Sleep with us?"
Percy gave her a small smile and climbed next to her in bed. Annabeth put her back against his chest and his arms circled protectivily around her waist. Selene had felt the change of warmth and crept up against Annabeth. With a smile she put her arms around the little child and fell asleep at the sound of her fiancé's heartbeat.
My wrist hurts... I shouldn't have written this with a sprained wrist. Well to late now. Hope you liked it!!!
