Caul was standing in front of the crowd. Some of them were hugging each other, looking up at him with fear in their eyes.
He seemed to enjoy the scared look on their faces.
None of them ran away, they didn't even try to escape at all. They were just standing really close to each other, hoping they could defend themselves like this.
"This day is special! Because from now on, a new era is dawning!" Caul said excitedly and reached out his arms.
Then a man stepped out from the crowd, black tears streaming down his cheeks. He took ambrosia.
The man clenched his fist, glaring at Caul and said: "You, monster! If you want to make us your prisoners, you have to fight me first!"
Caul wasn't impressed at all and quickly grabbed the little man, lifting him up. People began to scream and shout.
The ambrosian punched Caul's hand and small vines started to grow on him, but they quickly disappeared again.
"How pathetic..." the giant said and looked down at him.
"Desmond!!" a woman yelled from somewhere in the crowd. She seemed to be his wife. As she was running towards him and Caul, she was holding a baby in her arms.
"Is that your wife? Well then, take a last look at her.....before you die!" then Caul threw him away, which made everyone scream in shock. Desmond hit the ground hard, and stopped moving.
People gathered around him, calling his name, but they quickly got taken away from wights.
"We found them, sir." said a wight, who came walking up to his leader with another wight, dragging Miss Peregrine, Emma and Horace with them.
Caul grinned devilishly and said: "Perfect. Take all of them away. It's time to return to our fortress..."
The wights wandered off, taking some of the people with them.
Horace was shaking and trying hard not to cry.
"It's gonna be okay..." Miss Peregrine whispered, trying to make him feel better. But even she didn't know the meaning of "okay" anymore.
"What are you going to do us?" yelled Emma, while she struggled to get free.
One of the wights shrugged. "That's up to him." he replied, looking up at Caul. "Now, stop fighting. We're not letting you leave."

Sharon ran through the house, still hearing the wights footsteps behind him. He knew exactly where to go. There was a secret exit, that Myron showed him once. Which, as he said, was for emergencies.
Sharon arrived at the door and was about to open it, until a bee flew into his face.
He covered his face with his hands, and tried to make the insect fly away.
"Wait!"
Hugh came running towards him, breathing heavily, while bees swarmed out from his mouth. "I'll...I'll come with you!"
Sharon nodded. "Okay then, but we should really go now." Then he grabbed the doorknob and twisted it. They both went outside, quietly closing the door behind them. Hugh and Sharon looked around carefully, to make sure nobody was following them.
"One of your bees scared me a little..." Sharon said and watched the bees flying back into Hugh's mouth.
"Oh- uh- yeah, I'm sorry. But he didn't want to hurt you, I promise. They're nice." Hugh said after he got all of his bees back.
"I know a place, where we can go. Follow me." Sharon said to him, and began to walk down the street.
