„We're doomed."

Chapter 20

The seven sat together around in a circle, talking to each other.
„I know it's hard to trust us, but..."Brianna began to say, but stopped when Horace stood up.
„I think we can!" said Horace and awkwardly looked down at everyone. „They wouldn't have shot at Caul, if they would still be on his side."
Everyone nodded understandingly and Horace sat back down again.
Then the wight continued talking: „What I wanted to say was, if you don't trust us enough, then that's completely fine. We would understand."
Fernando bend over to her and whispered something.
„I know. But that's not so important right now. If he wants to betray all of us again, then he should just go ahead. I don't really care." Brianna replied and shrugged.
Miss Peregrine's eyes widened again. She knew who they were talking about.
„Miss, are you okay?" the wight asked, turning away from Fernando.
„Yes- I- I just need to go somewhere else for a minute." the ymbryne said and stood up in the next moment, walking behind the nearest tree.
Suddenly, everything around her seemed to fade away and she lost herself in her thoughts.

She was in her old room in Miss Avocet and Miss Bunting's loop, but she still couldn't quite see everything. It was blurry and dark, but it got a little brighter with every minute.
It was like a dream.
But there was this cruel, taunting voice. Right in front of her.
„It's all your fault. You've ruined my life. I wish you weren't my sister. I wish you weren't born at all!"
It was Jack. He was standing in front of her and looked down at her with such a fierce look on his face, that Alma thought she would never forget it.
She felt her backing away from him, but he kept on approaching her.
„I hate you!" he screamed and pushed her hard, causing her to hit the wall behind her. Alma fell down and shrieked as she did.
Jack wiped dust from his clothes, took a last look at her and then stomped away towards the door.
When he left the room and turned around the corner, Alma saw Myron standing in front of the door frame, watching everything what happened.
For a moment, Alma believed he would come in. Her brother took one step forward, but stopped again and looked at her, as if he wanted to say: „I'm sorry."
Then he turned around and went the same way as Jack, leaving Alma alone in her room. She began to cry.

„Miss Peregrine?" Emma came walking over to her. „Is everything alright?"
She noticed that her headmistress was crying slightly.
Miss Peregrine quickly wiped away her tears, and smiled at her ward. „I-I'm fine, Miss Bloom."

Sharon was making his way to the place where he and his friends were attacked by Caul. The others were following close behind.
„Do you really have find your weapon now? I mean, couldn't we just go and find your friends? I'm sure you'll find another weapon on the way...and with my help, we could find them faster." said Myron and everyone stopped, turning around to face him.
„Yeah, sure. And then you'll hand us right over into Caul's hands." Sharon looked down and his shot wide open. „Oh hey, my crossbow!"
Myron sighed, while Sharon picked up his crossbow out of the high grass. He turned around and looked up at Myron again.
„Now, what was your brilliant plan again?" he asked and grinned.
„I just-" the giant took a deep breath. „I could carry you, while we find your friends."
„If that's easier, then yes." said Sharon, but looked at him with mistrust. „But I'll keep an eye on you."
Myron nodded, and held out his hand to them. „I'm sorry, but the hollow has to stay here."
Jacob looked over to Sharon, who nodded at him and held up his crossbow to show him, they had some kind of other protection, instead of the hollowgast.
Jacob sighed and then helped down Claire and Olive.
When both girls were on the ground again, Jacob said: „Okay, we're ready."
Then all three climbed up on Myron's hand, who later began to lift them up and Jacob disconnected his mind from the hollow. The hollowgast looked like it woke up from a trance and then it ran off into the forest.
