„Get ready! They're coming!" shouted Sharon, as he faced the crowd.
They saw wights storming out from the fortress and a few familiar peculiars following them.
The wights cocked their guns, ready to shoot at all the people.
But the next sounds weren't any gunshots- it was a loud crashing sound coming from the wights' fortress.
Everyone turned their heads to the building, watching it as it collapsed.
The wights dropped their guns and looked at the collapsing building with their mouths wide open, not quite believing what they saw.
Brianna came running towards them. "Your leader is still there and he's dead! Surrender now!" she said and held up her gun. All the slum dwellers did the same, except that they had pitchforks.
She didn't really know if Caul was dead, but for now it was the perfect lie to make his guards panic.
The wights awkwardly held up both of their hands, accepting their defeat.
Even though they had weapons, they were completely lost without their leader. They were caught off guard at this moment.

Miss Peregrine came running to them, with  other peculiars behind her.
„Miss Peregrine! Emma!" said Olive and Claire joined her. „Horace! Miss Wren!"
Emma ran over to Jacob, hugging him.
„I'm so glad you're okay!" she said and kissed his cheek.

The slum dwellers shouted at the wights and in the next moment, they ran at them and hit them with their weapons.
Brianna, together with Fernando, came over to Miss Peregrine.
„Everybody is out of the building now. They're save now." the wight said.
„If everybody's here, then who fought against Caul?..." Miss Peregrine asked, worrying about the chance of him still being alive.
„Oh, except Myron Bentham. He decided to give us some time to escape. He stayed inside." Brianna explained.
Sharon's eyes widened. He seemed to have heard what she just said.
„Excuse me for a moment." Sharon turned around and then ran off, past the slum dwellers and wights fighting.

Sharon walked into what was left of the fortress and looked around.
Ahead of him was huge pile of broken pieces and it looked like as if something was underneath it.
He hesitated at first, but then climbed up on it.
Some of the pieces were covered with some kind of black liquid.
Sharon noticed how the pile was slowly moving up and down, as if it was breathing. But he couldn't hear anything, except for the deadly silence that was surrounding him.
Eventually, Sharon carefully lifted up one of the pieces, trying not to get in contact with the soul liquid.
It revealed a big, insect-like eye.
The eye blinked a few times to get used to the sudden shine of daylight.
"Look who we have here! If it isn't our thousand-eyed friend." said Sharon, grinning down at Myron's eye and crossed his arms.
Myron gasped. "Sharon! You shouldn't be here!" Myron warned him, his muffled voice coming from underneath the rocks.
The giant quickly tried to get up, but stopped when he remembered that Sharon was basically standing on his face, losing balance.
"He- he could be still alive!" Myron said, hoping Sharon might run off again.
But he looked around and shrugged: "Really? I don't see him anywhere."
This time, Myron really sat up and Sharon fell down the avalanche of rocks, that Myron caused by getting up.
He held up his head, looking around.
Caul really wasn't there anymore. There were no other piles of broken pieces where he could be buried underneath. And he couldn't have escaped before the building collapsed in on them, could he?
No. He had been too weak at that point and he was too busy keeping Myron inside, so that they would die together.

Instead of his brother, Myron saw all of the soul liquid Caul was losing throughout the last minutes, until everything went down.

"Looks like I was wrong." Sharon began to say, as he got up again and the giant turned his attention on him. "You really did stay on our side this time."
A slight smile came up on Myron's face.
"I still don't forgive you, though." Sharon said and Myron's smile vanished again. "Let's get out of here. There are still some wights to take care of."
Then Sharon turned and was about to walk back outside, until Myron said: „Wait!"
Sharon stopped, but wouldn't look at Myron.
„Do you think we can be friends again someday?..." Myron carefully asked, trying to conjure up some memories in Sharon.
„Ask me that later again." said Sharon and still kept his eyes away from his old friend.

The giant got up and slowly followed Sharon, knowing what was awaiting him outside.

Even though, Myron once redeemed himself already—and now even a second time—the ymbryne council would probably still like to talk to him about his crimes. After all, those things happened and he was responsible for them.
But now he felt more confident.
He was ready for no matter what was going to come.
