She screamed as loud as she could. Everyone sat up rapidly and tried to think about what was happening. Luckily not everyone just woke up from their sleep—Sharon turned around, grabbing his crossbow from his back and aiming it at the giant monster. He wasn't even questioning how he did not notice Caul's presence before.
All that mattered right now, was to save Miss Peregrine.
Caul was starting to slowly crush her between his fingers, but it took him longer than he had expected. It seemed as if he had gotten weaker.
Sharon didn't hesitate at all and shot at the giant two times. One arrow hit his chest, and the other one sunk into his flesh near his left shoulder.
Caul screamed in agony, dropping Miss Peregrine. This time Sharon couldn't catch her, but at least she fell into one of the trees.
The giant furiously looked down to the man with his crossbow, and finally recognised him.
„You..." Caul began to say, his voice was like thunder. „What did you do to me? You...you poisoned me, right? There was poison on the arrowhead."
Caul already noticed that he was weaker than he was before.
„You hit the bull's eye." Sharon said, as if he didn't care who was standing in front of him. But suddenly he regretted doing that, while he was lifted up by Caul's right hand.
He might have been weaker, but Caul could still easily kill someone, if he wanted to.
Miss Peregrine, still somewhere in a tree, tried to tell her brother to stop, which obviously didn't work.
The others stood on the ground, frozen in shock, but still able to shout at Caul.
Then the giant eyed Sharon, whose crossbow lay on the ground. He was defenceless and in the next moment Caul threw him away, far enough that it would take Sharon a while to get back to Miss Peregrine and her wards.
Caul watched him fall down somewhere far away, into the trees. And then he looked down to the children, putting on a hideous grin.
„Now to you...." he said and bend down to them. Horace began to shake, probably going trough countless scenarios inside his head, while Emma let flames grow from her hands and Hugh let his bees swarm out.
But suddenly all their heads turned to the right, when they heard someone shouting: „HEY CAUL!"
Two wights came running towards them, pointing their guns at the giant. They were Brianna and Fernando. Caul's expression changed, and looked kind of surprised.
„What? But you are- wigh-" Caul began to stutter, but got interrupted when Brianna started to shoot at him. He screamed and told her stop, but she didn't.
„Take them away from here!" she yelled over to Fernando, who immediately told everyone to follow him. Despite the fact, that he was a wight, the children didn't hesitate and went straight into the direction Fern told them to go. He also helped down Miss Peregrine, who was still scared to death. Then he took all of them away from Caul, who was still trying to protect himself from the bullets Brianna was shooting at him.//
All of them were out of breath, gasping for air. They were already far away from Caul and decided to take a break. But the actual reason, why they had stopped, was because Fernando suddenly quit running.
„Wights fighting against Caul." said Hugh, more to himself than to the others and chuckled.
„Why are you helping us? Why aren't you with the other wights?" asked Emma, still not really trusting him. But Fernando didn't seem to response. He seemed to search for something what wasn't there. The wight started to mumble something, but wouldn't tell them about what he was looking for.
Brianna came running up to them, and started to ask Fern a million of questions: „Where is he? Where did he go? Why isn't he here?"
Fernando shrugged, and responded with a simple: „I don't know."
Brianna stomped around. She seemed angry but also surprised at the same time.
„We shouldn't have left him here." she said and then groaned. „Of course he would leave. He just can't be trusted."
Miss Peregrine came walking over to them from behind the others.
„Excuse me. May I ask, who you two are talking about?" she asked, slowly approaching them. It seemed as if no one didn't really trust them yet, which was understandable. But Miss Peregrine tried her best to act nice towards the two wights.
„We're talking about Myron Bentham." Brianna replied. „You didn't happen to see him somewhere, did you? There's actually no chance he can be overlooked..."
But after they mentioned his name, Miss Peregrine just stared at them, her face empty and emotionless.
