Jack, Myron and their little sister Alma were walking home from school.
Jack was walking in front of them, while Myron was holding Alma's hand to make sure she's coming with them.
It was snowing and Alma was putting out her tongue, hoping she could eat the snowflakes.
„Come on, sister. We can go outside later again, but for now we have to get home. We're almost there." said Myron dragging her along.
„Okay..." Alma said disappointedly and turned away from the falling snow.
Jack sighed and looked down to the ground. He already knew what was going to happen, when their parents find out what happened today in school.
The oldest sibling turned around a corner and walked up to a porch. Jack took out a keychain from his bag and searched for the right key.
He quickly found it and began to unlock the door. Then he opened it and held it open, so Myron and Alma walked in first.
„We're home!" said Myron, while his brother closed the door behind him.
Alma took off her scarf and gave it to Jack, who put it on a hat stand.
Their parents came into the corridor, their mother bending down to Alma and asking her how her day was. While Myron was talking with them too, Jack quickly walked away from them.
„Where are you going, young man?" his father asked sternly and Jack stopped, but wouldn't look him in the eyes.
„Why are you leaving so quickly? Are you hiding something from us? Look at me when I'm talking to you!" he yelled at Jack and the boy flinched.
Their mother picked up Alma and left the room, together with Myron.
„I wanted go to my room, father." said Jack and started to shake slightly, still not looking at him.
„Show me all the things you did in school today. Now." his father pointed at his son's bag.
Jack sat down on the floor and pulled out a few pieces of paper. He gave it to his father, while his hand was shaking.
Mr. Bentham looked on every one of them, but suddenly stopped and said: „What's this? A bad mark? Jack?.."
Tears were building up in the boys eyes.
„What is that?! Tell me!!" he yelled at Jack again and grabbed his arm, when he noticed he wasn't answering. „Well, then. If you won't answer me, then I'll have to beat the truth out of you."
Jack began to cry and begged his father to just talk about it. But he dragged him into his room, and shut the door.„Will they ever be proud of me?"
//
„Do you think they would be proud of me, Alma?" Caul said as he held his sister in his claws.
Alma knew exactly who he meant by they. Their parents always treated him like someone, who wasn't good enough and will never be.
„Would they be proud of me?!" Caul screamed desperately.
Then he sighed and chuckled. „You were always their little favourite, Alma." She got nearly crushed and was fighting for air. Caul grinned, enjoying to torture his sister.
„I wish they could see me now. Well, at least you can..."
Suddenly, they heard the sound of a window breaking.
„Hey, you beast!" Sharon was standing in one of the windows, pointing his crossbow at Caul.==
(This one's a little short, sorry. But here's a drawing of Sharon with his crossbow:)
