(Kathrine's P.O.V.)
"What. The. Hell." Astrid paused and turned her head to me. "Was. That."
"Dunno, don't care." I panted as I slouched on the couch.
"Gonna brush it off like that?" Astrid surprisedly asked. "That was insane! Magic blob things, weird clues!"
"Exactly why I feel so damn dead and went on the couch." I blatantly replied. Magic blob things and weird clues will be the death of me.
"Eternal ecstasy..." Astrid repeated the message from the book, joining me on the couch.
"I sorta get it." I said. "I mean, this world's basically a game and games bring joy."
"Yeah, true, but...our impending doom?" Astrid shivered. "I don't want doom..."Astrid pouted making a little puppy face. "C'mere Oreo. What do you think, little boy?"
"Woof! Woof!" Oreo rushed to Astrid while barking enthusiastically.
"That's a lot of help." I sarcastically said. Astrid rolled her eyes.
"Whatever." She patted Oreo on the head. "At least he's trying. Your just sitting over there!"
"Well..." In truth, I didn't wanna help. I've had enough. As much as I wanted to know more...not now. Not today. I just wanna stay in bed and play a game in this world of a game. Why can't I receive that eternal ecstasy this world is made for? Why must I receive the eternal doom? I was too tired to care, too broken to fix this.
"Because your the chosen ones." A familiar voice answered. I snapped my head back to the mind reader. You guessed it; Percy.
"Percy?! What the hell!" Astrid screamed. She pointed her staff at the intruder.
"Hey- chill Grumpy Cat." Percy raised his hands in defense. "Just wanted to help this less-grumpy-but-still-grumpy-grumpy-cat over there."
"Huh?" Astrid sighed. "Nothing here makes sense anymore."
"You can read minds now?" I ask.
"No, I just knew you were thinking that by looks of it. You seem dead in the inside, ya know?" Percy explained.
"Great. I look like a dead zombie, don't I?" I shook my head. "Well, whatever. What do you mean by 'chosen ones'?"
"You're the chosen one's." He repeated.
"Who said so?" I pushed.
"This world." He said.
"And how do you know? When did it say? Why were we chosen?" I continued.
"Woah, hold it." Astrid held her hand in front of me, looking a bit overwhelmed. "I should be the going rapid-fire with questions."
"Go on..." I stepped aside, giving Astrid the floor.
"The book. Why did go all like that?" Astrid quickly asked.
"It's most probably because it's time." Percy answered.
"How utterly cliché." I remarked. He ignored me.
"Time for what exactly?" Astrid leaned in.
"The impending doom you have."Helpful Percy; how very helpful. What could our impending doom be? Being stuck in this world to no end? To forget our past and our friends? To be eternally tortured and in pain for the rest of our lives in this place filled with immortal mages and warriors? Just as the book, Percy was making no sense.
"Which is...?"
"Remember the Lιηκ Шаικεяs?" He asked. Astrid nodded. "Well, you two haven't seen the last of them. They're basically the glitches of this game."
"And so...?" Astrid wouldn't stop. She got more and more intrigue with every question and answer.
"They're the ones trying to turn this world into hell." He turned grimly to the book. "They're the killers of the souls in that book."
"Ki- killers?" Astrid stammered. "Thought you can't die here?"
"Well...that wasn't until update 3.5.11." Percy admitted.
"Update?" Astrid tilted her head. Her eyes that went all glum a moment ago were literally shining now.
"This is a game-world right? There are updates and glitches." He explained.
"Woah..." Astrid stared in awe.
"Uh huh. The Lιηκ Шаικεяs were everywhere just like how new game probably has more bugs then when it get updated more."
"What update is latest?"
"3.6.13."
"When was that?" Astrid enthusiastically questioned.
"Maybe..." Percy paused and looked at me. I suddenly saw a flash of sadness and tiredness in his eyes. "Around my 3rd year here. A century ago."~
"Stuck...caged." Astrid stuck her head the pillow she held onto while Percy explained. "For once I feel bad for you..."
"That's why you want to get out so bad." I thought.
