My surroundings are fuzzy around me, and my eyes refused to focus just yet.

Wham! I all but leaped into a sitting position, staring around me, listening for the bang, daring it to sound again.

I glance around, wide awake.

"Mm..." I mutter as I realize I was-alone-in, what I asumed to be, Ashton's bed. He must've carried me.

"Ash?" I half-shout, getting out of the tangled mess of blankets. As soon as I had accomplished that I made my way through the room, only to find Ashton on the roof's beams. Again.

"What are you doing up there? You're gonna fall!" I scold him.

"I'm only doing what I was supposed to finish friday night, Zaili. I'm fixing the leaks. Calmness, yeah?" he looks down at me.

"Well, when will you be done?"

"If you could stand half a meter to the right, I'll be right with you."

I sigh and shuffle a few feet to the right, just as Ashton jumps down.

"Hello, Zaili. Did you sleep well?" Ashton hugs me. Right around the middle. I don't feel anything.

'Time,' I think to myself.

"Yeah, but I would like to know how you got it right to move me without waking me?"

"Morph, remember?" he teases me, whispering into my ear.

"Still..." I mutter. Ashton just shrugs and pulls me to the couch, snuggling into the pillows. He had a fluffy couch.

"You hungry?" he asks after some time, running his fingers through my hair.

"Nope, but I'm sure you are, so what do you want?" I smile up at him, with my head on his lap.

"Condenced milk on bread."

He seemed serious.

"Repeat that...?" I ask him wildly.

"You don't do that? Haven't you ever tried it?" he asks, his voice coated with disbelief.

"I would like to say, in my defence, that I have never even heard of this!"

"Well, you're gonna try it now!"

"I don't like being sick!" I try to pull away from him.

"Calm down, woman! You'll be fine!" he laughs at me.

"Whatever," I pout, slumping into my kitchen seat.

"I promise, you'll lo-" he starts, but is interrupted by the front door opening. Ashton steps in front of me, his stance stiff.

"Ashton?" I hear Tatiana call.

"Hell Tatiana! Why didn't you tell me you were coming! Nearly gave us a heart attack," Ashton relaxes.

"Us?" a confused Tatiana peers around the corner.

"Hey Tiana," I smile. I loved Tatiana, she was so amazing.

"Zaili! What are you doing here?" Tiana hugs me.

"Hasn't Alpha told you? About us?" Ashton asks, confused.

"I know that you are a to-be mated pair when Zaili becomes of age, but what I meant was why isn't she at her own house? It's, like, twelve, I think."

"She spent the morning. It's fine, she's too self-respective to let anything happen. So why're you here, Tatiana?"

"I was running rounds with Dimitri," she says, blushing. I rise my eyebrows at her and she shrugs, continuing. "But Alpha asked me to stop by and tell you that you need to be prepared. Zaili's taking you to school tomorrow."

"Joy," he and I groan at the same time.

"Hey, at least you'll know Zaili, mmh?" Tiana tries to cheer him up. Miserable attempt, but she gets points for trying.

"Well, I gotta go, you guys stay clean," she warn and excuses herself.

"So how about I go back to my couch, you can eat your wet-sugar bread, and we go back-to-school shopping in an hour?" I bargain.

"If we must," Ashton sighs.

"Then I'm going back to the bed, since you seem too miserable to qualify as company," I walk out, giving him no chance to reply.

I wasn't in the bed for two minutes until a big, heavy man came and laid gimself on top of me, making it hard for me to breath through his back.

"Ashton!" I squirm under him.

"Oh, hi, I lost my number, can I have yours?" Ashton jokes as he rolls over, facing me on his side now.

"Most definitely not!" I mock-yell at him.

"Oh, alright, if that's how you feel," he huffs, yurning away from me.

"Ashton," I giggle.

"What?"

I push him out of the bed, laughing when he face-plants on the floor.

"Change of plans, we're going shopping now! So get up, lazy bones! We're wasting daylight, and you need things, so come," I start probbing him with my feet, finally just decisive to sit on him.

"You will be the death of me, Zaili," he grumbles as I ride on his back, all the way to the front door.

"Never you mind that, pencils are waiting for you," I help him up.

"Let's go shopping."
