"Zaili," Ashton whispers and pokes my side. I all but pirouette; I'm ticklish.

"Yeah," I reply, trying to hide my blush.

Luckily, Mr Sir has left, though he made positively, absolutely, sure that he would be back.

Teachers older than 40 really shouldn't be trying to impress their students with their half-poor knowledge of cool movies.

"Zaili!" Ashton snaps his fingers at me.

"Ugh, sorry, mind bunnies," I say, mentally facepalming myself.

"Fine, but tell me, what happened out there?"

"Did Alpha not tell you about B-l-a-k-e?" I frown at him.

"Nope, don't know that guy," he skrugged.

"I... well, see, that guy, Blake, he and I are-were?-best friends... but the deal is that he dislikes me as a friend. And he is not a Morph. You know how it is," I try to explain my present situation to tbe blind fella.

"So he likes you?"

"Sure."

Ashton's face wrinkles up as he frowns at me carefully. "Do you like him?"

"I don't know, Ashton. Alpha tells me to not feel for him, but obedience is a touchy subject in this particular case," I answer shakily.

"Zaili," Ashton says softly. He must have been forgetting that we are in a class full of gossiping little birdies, because he reached over the aisle and grabbed my hands.

'Only shy when he wants to be,' I think to myself.

"Could you please look at me?"

"When Mr Sir gets back, you'll have detention on your first day. And you know about Murphy's Law..." I say testily.

"Look-" he was cut off, by a wide swooping door and a short bark of laughter.

"Who talked? Who talks in my class?" he smiled sarcastically.

Blake, who had swung back miliseconds before the surprise attack, was now staring at his handbook as if he could save a life by knowing all its lessons.

"I will find you... oh, I will... just you wait..." Mr Sir mumbles, sitting down softly.

'We'll talk later, okay?" I write at the corner of my notebook, lifting it slightly so Ashton could read it.

'Deal. Don't you dare break it.'
