Chapter Twenty-Five

I sat up, my head aching. I place my hand over my right eye, where the pain is worse.

I rubbed my temples gently and closed my eyes, then i remembered the coordinates for my brother and Father, we have to go now if we we want to save them.

Slowly, I slid out of bed and made my way to my clos-et? I forgot I was in Shiro's room. So I made my way to the door, only to fall over something. I turned to look at what I tripped over.

"Katie?" He asked as he jumped out of his makeshift bed to see if I was ok.

"Sorry, Shiro. I didn't see you there." I laughed, Shiro joining in after checking my health.

"How are you doing?" He asked, the both of us calming down. I shrugged my shoulders and stood up, Shiro following.

"Hey," I began. He looked up at me from the floor. "Thanks- for letting me sleep in your room, and for letting me sleep in the bed." I smiled.

"Anything for you." He winked, to which I giggled and left the room.

I made my way through the halls remembering what I wanted to tell Allura. Matt and my father were out there somewhere, and so close too. This was my chance to finally get them back, to see them safe once again.

"Hey, Allura." I began nervously.

"Hello, Pidge." She greeted, too focused on what she was doing to completely realize that I'm here.

"Can I talk to you?" I asked, hoping she would say yes. She stopped what she was doing and turned around, staring at me expectantly. As soon as I mentioned my Father and brother all color drained from her face.

"Allura?" I asked, making sure I hadn't said something wrong. "Did I say something?"

"Pidge," She began, however, I interjected and explained how I remember the coordinates.

"I know that... the Galra that I... that I... well he may have take the coordinates but I know where they are, they're so close Allura. Can you imagine-" I began dreaming aloud, unintentionally making Allura feel all the more guilty.

"-we finally arrive at the planet with the lions and we shoot at the Galra like -pew pew- and I'll be like -hiyA- and then it'll go -kabOom- and then I'll see my father and Matt and we'll save the prisoners and gain new allies. Oh, oh, and when I find them, oh, I'm going to give them the biggest hug, I won't ever let them out of my sight again!" Surprised that the usually bubbly and excitable Altean hadn't said a word or made a noise I turned back around.

"Allura?" I asked, looking back at her and noticing her face which was full of guilt. All hope and happiness drained as she began to speak.

"I- Pidge we can't. I know you want to but we're just- I'm sorry Pidge." My lip quivered as my hands began to shake, I felt my jaw tighten and tears threatening to spill.

"Why?" I whispered, now looking at the ground.

"Pid-"

"Why!" I screamed, making the Altean cower in fear. I knew it. I knew they thought of me as a monster. I scoffed at the sight of her and ran off to my messy room.
