-Abigail's POV

"What do you think must be happening at that party?" Jenny asked me dreamily while wondering about the possibilities.

"Honestly Jen, I don't know and I don't want to know," I answered exasperated. "It's been almost one hour since you're talking about that stupid party!"

"Relax Abby.. I'm sorry. I was just wondering about it..." she stated sadly.

Now, Jenny has been my bestfriend since kindergarden and I really love her to bits. We have very much in common; we like the same books, same movies, same subjects... There is only one difference; she is so unrealistic. She wants to become one of those popular kids but that's obviously not possible.

"It's fine.. I'm just a little tired." I said softening at her apologetical face. "You know that I don't have any interest in these things, don't you?"

"Yeah I know.. but I don't get it. How can you be content with this boring life like ours?" she asked mockingly.

"Shut up Jen! It's not that bad." I argued defensively.

It's true, I like my simple routine. Although it's not exactly what every teenager dreams about, I like it because it brings a smile to my mother's face. I know it sounds cliché but hey, I'm an honest kid. Mom has always wanted a perfect daughter like Sarah, my late sister, who would bring pride to her. Since Sarah died in an accident at the age of 14, that is 3 years ago, I've tried my best to be a perfect child like her. Excelling in every subject wasn't easy. It required a lot of sacrifices and today, it's became natural for me to surpress my desires as a 16 year old hormonal teenager.

"Yes it is and you know it!" Jen is one of the few people who understand me and know my feelings better than myself. But there are also some secrets that I prefer to keep to myself.

"Whatever..." I waved her off.

"Do you think Britney and Joey went to the party as well?" she asked out of the blue.

"Of course! That party wouldn't be successful without the school's most adorable and popular couple," I said sarcastically. Only the mention of that asshole is enough to flare me up.

"Is that jealousy dear?" she teased. She doesn't know the real reason of my hatred for Joey.. In fact, nobody does.

"Eww.. no way! Do really see me falling for Joey Mcwell, the most arrogant and selfish playboy on earth?" I snapped back.

She started laughing at me. "I think you are probably the only one that resists to his charms!"

"It's just a matter of time before the others realise that all what that spoilt brat wants is to get between their legs." I state the obvious.

"Now that's really harsh! You can't judge him on the outside and besides.. you must admit he's cute.." she defended him and then blushed about the last part. "I really don't get why you are so annoyed by him."

Refusing to admit that he is indeed quite attractive and ignoring her inquiry, I ask instead accusingly, "Don't tell me you have a crush on him?"

"N-No.. but what's wrong in liking one of the popular kids? They're quite nice.." she argued in a small voice.

"If you say so. Now enough with Joey-The-Jerk and let's head downstairs; I'm starving!" I change the subject while pushing a laughing Jenny towards the door of my bedroom.
