11. Invitations

Amnesia - 5 Seconds of Summer

"That's not a bad idea at all!" Katie said excitedly. Much more than myself actually.. "What do you think bro?"

"Um.. I don't really know.. I-I mean are you sure a party would be fine?" I asked unsurely.

"Of course! It's the best way to socialize and besides, you used to love these parties," Dad replied.

"False.. Britney used to love them and he just accompanied her to wake up in the same bed as her, naked, the next morning!" Katie snaps.

"Mind your tone dear!" Mom warned. "Britney is a nice girl and she is trying to help your brother."

"Whatever.." Katie mumbled, annoyed.

I just stayed silent during all this time as I didn't know whose side to take.

"So it's confirmed! This weekend we are having a party, at our farmhouse, for you and you may invite whoever you want," Dad concluded.

The next day I drove myself to school. I wanted to start becoming a little more independent. As expected, Britney was waiting for me near the gate along with a curly and short haired blonde. The latter was elegantly dressed and seemed to be of a high family but less than Britney of course.

"Hey honey!" Britney greeted me. I just leaned down to kiss her cheeks while a big grin took over her face.

"Hi Joey!" the other girl spoke up as well.

"Hey.. what's up?" I asked confusedly. Fortunately Britney seems to notice my uneasiness.

"She's Lucy, my bestfriend," she explains. Lucy's smile dropped when she heard her own introduction as if realizing that I had really lost my memory.

"Yup.. that's me," she added sadly.

"Nice to meet you.. so let's head inside?" I proposed.

"Lead the way," Britney said as she grabbed my arm and Lucy just nodded.

As we walked to my litterature class, Britney talked about the party in two days time. Apparently my mom had already talked to her.

"I already invited all of the most popular kids, the football and basketball teams and some cheerleaders. I'll give you a list and you can add someone I missed. Is that fine baby?"

"It's great! Thanks. I was in a real mess of who to invite.."

"I can picture that.. but it's solved now. Here's your class. See ya!" She walks away with Lucy following her steps while I enter the class. The only person who I really know here is Abigail. So I sat beside her but she had her nose burried in her book.. That's what I call a nerd.

"Hi.." I try to start a conversation. She just glanced at me and nodded before returning to her book.

"What are you reading?" I insist.

"None of your business."

"Why are you always so rude around me?" I asked a little hurt. I had thought that we were friends after yesterday's incident.

"Because."

"Because what?" I ask irritated.

"Because I want to." Her snappy answers were annoying so I preferred to drop it and get on with the class.

-Abby's POV

At lunch break, I was eating with Jen when Rick came along excitedly.

"Guess who is invited to Joey Mcwell's party?" he asked us teasingly.

"The principal?" Jen teased back.

"Nopes.. The one and only Rick Cobert!"

"But how come? You don't even know him.." I ask intrigued.

"Yeah but the football players were invited and they just asked me to tag along. Now all I need is a date... W-Will you... a-accompany me J-J-Jenny?" He finally made a move towards her!

"Me!? At Joey's party? Are you serious?" Jenny ask unbelievingly.

"Yeah.. I would like you to come." Rick said kindly.

"But I-" she began but I cut her off.

"Don't overthink it Jen! Go and have fun like you always wanted to," I encouraged her.

"Well.. I guess it's a yes then," she said shyly to Rick.

"Yesss!" Rick exclaimed joyfully, "I'll pick you up at your house." Jen nodded excitedly before Rick walked away. After he was gone, Jenny turned to me.

"I'm going to my very first party!! Oh my gosh.. I still can't believe it!"

"Do believe it.. It's really happening!"

"I know! But.. I need your help. I don't know what to do at this kind of party.."

"And of all the people, you are asking ME for advice?" I laughed sacastically. "Sorry but this is just out of my league!"

"Hey, why don't you come along? Just your presence would be of great help-"

"No! That's just not my scene so please don't insist!" I cut her off firmly. There was no way that I would land up to that dumbass's fucking party. Luckily for her, she didn't argue and we quickly changed the subject.

Just to clarify.. Rick is also a nerd but he also forms part of the football team. In short, he is both a jock and a nerd.. ;)
