-Joey's POV

"Close your mouth and say something!" Abby said irritated.

"R-repeat that.." I asked. I couldn't believe my ears. She sighed loudly and made eye contact with me.

"I said that I was sorry.. I shouldn't have lost my temper like that."

"And you expect me to gobble that crap?" I scoffed. "I know you long enough to be able to say that-"

"You don't know me at all," she cut me off. I stayed silent. She was right, I didn't know her but I knew something about her that nobody else knew. She seemed to notice and understand my small smile forming at the thought of knowing her musical secret.

"That doesn't count! I.. It.. It was a mistake.." She argued, her cheeks slightly flushed. I couldn't help chuckling at her reaction which made her to swat at my arm.

"Ouch!" I yelped. "You should to be apologising not hitting me again."

"Right.. Stop distracting me!" she said in a rather childish but cute voice.

"So it's all my fault again?"

"I never said that.. you admitted it yourself," she smirked.

"Okay! Peace out. Let's try not to fuck this up anymore?" I suggested. I didn't know what but something about her was interesting and intriguing. She's been a mystery since I met her and I really want to get to know her better.

"I'm good with it." She smiled. That's strange... she seems nicer than ordinary today.

"What's wrong?" I asked seriously. She just stared at me, puzzled, so I continued, "You're being nice to me. Where's the trap?" I raised my eyebrow. She looked at me for a few more moments before blinking her eyes nervously.

"I-I'm just tired of being angry. Lets move on, okay?"

"But move on past what? Why were you angry?"

"It's in the past now, forget it," she said hesitantly before extending her hand with a small smile. "Friends?"

Friends? Can we be friends? Can I make a new friend out of a nerd? Was that even acceptable? I didn't have any idea of what to reply. So far I had felt part of a higher class of students and I had been taught that we had to stay away from the nerds and geeks. Frankly speaking, I've nothing against them but Britney had once said that it was a natural thing for us to do.

Stop thinking dude! You're being given a chance to make your first new friend after your accident. Just grab it!

"Friends!" I replied while mentally thanking my subconscious. I shook her hand lightly but I found her touch somehow hesitant. Perhaps she's shy.

"So how about we meet at lunch? You know for.. uhh.. developing our friendship.." I proposed unsurely. I didn't know whether I could really hang out with her but I guess it's not a crime right?

"T-today I can't.. I.. I have music practice so.." she flushed.

"Oh, that secret music lesson thing?"

"Will it kill you to whisper?" Abby scolded me gently.

"Sorry, that secret music lesson thing?" I said again in a hushed tone and a smirk playing on my face.

"Yes!"

"Hey, can I come with you?" I'm not sure why I asked that but I really liked what I heard last time.

"W-why?" Her voice came out as a forced squeal which was quite amusing.

"I just wanted to hear you sing again. And besides, I'm your friend now. So I'll meet you at the music room?" She just nodded her head and concentrated on the lesson which I hadn't paid a single moment of attention to.

-Abby's POV

I tried to focus on the lesson at work but it seemed impossible. It was supposed to be just a friendly talk, but somehow it turned out as me letting him into one of my biggest secrets! What did I do to deserve such a bigmouth? Why didn't I refuse him to come? I guess that gleam of hope in his eyes was the reason. And also the bet!

Since the accident, he appears to be a different person. Not that I forgot what he did to my sister but now he seems more... innocent?

"Ohh.. and next you may even want to kiss him out of pity, right?" that obnoxious subconscious of mine rolled her eyes and mocked me.

"It's enough for today. I'll see you tomorrow," the teacher said before ending the lesson.

It's alreay over? I didn't catch a single word of the whole class! I didn't write any notes either! Damn.. I'm so screwed! Just as I thought that this day couldn't go any worse, Joey's voice called me out.

"Go ahead, I'll join you once I make up an excuse to tell my friends." And he walks away as if he hadn't just made my blood turn to ice freezing cold. Singing in front of Joey Mcwell.. that should be interesting.. "Not." Shut up subconscious.
