As I entered the canteen, I immediately spotted Joey's blonde hair, at the big middle table. After giving false hopes to Jenny that rascal is enjoying his lunch here!? Just not happening.. I walked up from behind him and nearly punched his shoulder.

"We'd to talk," I said when he turned his head to look at me confusedly.

"Why?" Britney almost barked from beside him. Speaking of that slut, I still have to talk to her about the bet. Well, it can wait..

"I've something to ask him. Are you coming or not?" I raised my voice slightly and looked directly into Joey's eyes.

"Just speak here itself!" She put her hand on Joey's shoulder possessively. Dude, I just wanna speak and not sleep with him!

"Britney it's fine! I'll be coming soon," Joey spoke up before I could say something snappy to her. He got up, under the questioning eyes of all the popular kids seated at the big table and I think Britney even choked a breath when he followed me. Serves her right!

Once in the deserted corridor, we turned to face each other.

"Answer my question now," I asked bluntly.

"What question?" He has the bloody nerves to play dumb.

"Why did you lie yesterday?" I asked again.

"I didn't! It's you who lied!" he raise his voice.

"It's you who said that Nate loved Jenny! How come it's my fault now?" I frowned.

"I said the truth! It's you who lied about Rick and Jenny not being together!" By now, we were glaring at each other confusedly.

"I didn't lie! They are not together," I explained slowly as if talking to a child.

"Oh really? Stop playing dumb! Nate saw them together!"

"Rick was just saying sorry!"

"Are you sure of it?" he raised an eyebrow.

"Duh.. I was there Joey. Of course I'm sure," I argued.

"Well, I think you should talk about it with Jenny."

"You think that Jenny is lying to me about her relationship with Rick? She would never do that!" I scowled. He simply shrugged but stayed quiet. "So, that means Nate is going out with Lucy to make Jenny jealous because he thinks that she is going out with Rick?" I resumed.

"Yeah.."

"That's a cheap thing to do," I scolded.

"I didn't encourage him but I can't blame him either. He's hurt," he said sadly.

"Jenny's hurt too. She was ecstatic yesterday and wanted to tell Nate that she loved him too. But when she came to talk to him, she saw Lucy and Nate in the arms of each other," I explained equally sad.

"I don't know what to think anymore," he sighed.

"Me too. I'll talk to Jenny about it." He looked down to his shoes thoughtfully. "What are you thinking?"

"You didn't have music practice today?" I still curse the day that he found my secret.

"Yeah but I cancelled. I didn't want to leave Jenny alone."

"You're a good friend. And I'm sorry again about Britney behaviour," he said kindly.

"Thanks. Don't worry, I'm used to it," I rolled my eyes. "We must go back in now," I said while gesturimg toward the canteen door.

"Yup, let's go." We walked towards the door but none of us was polite enough to let the other walk in first. So we tried to pass the door together but we got stuck! As we were struggling from our awkward position, several pair of eyes studied us. Great.. Now I'll be a new gossip subject.

"Get out of the way," I hissed as we continued struggling. Talking of timing, we both pushed exactly at the same time and ended stumbling in the canteen. Joey managed to steady himself but as I tried to do the same, I grabbed his sleeve and pulled him with me onto the floor. We landed on our butts in a loud thump and the room bursted into laughing. What's so damn funny? As I sat up I realised that Joey's arm was wrapped around my waist and his face was practically on my chest. His blonde hair tickled my jaw and it felt.. sexy. His breath was cold against my skin and when he raised his face, his gaze froze me. It was just like in those crappy romantic comedies when you don't see anything apart from the gorgeous guy in front of you. Taking a moment to study him, I realised that he was stunningly, mouth-wateringly beautiful. His perfectly sculpted jaw and some too long strands of hair falling on his hazel eyes made him look like a model coming right out of a 'Vogue' magazin. Wait what? The entire canteen was silent and gaping at us now.

With the small amount of dignity that I've left in me, I scrambled away and tried to stand up but he was quicker to do so and extended his hand to help me. Well, who was I to refuse a helping hand? I took his hand and he pulled me up against him. Why are we standing so close!? I could sense every other girl in the room cursing me and needless to say Britney must've by now, made a plan to murder me. I quickly pushed his chest and walked away, trying to cover my red cheeks with my hair. Stop staring at me useless people! Look at your damn food!

I sat at my usual table, with another pair of eyes staring at me; Jenny.

"What?" I asked exasperated.

"What was that?" she gasped.

"Nothing. We fell, he helped me up. That's it!" I kind of explained.

"Abby, you were both checking each other out," Jenny pointed out. Really? I know that I've been enjoying but I didn't know that he was looking at me that way. I wonder how he found me. I'm way far as attractive as him but I hope he found me at least average looking. No! Why do you care if he found you attractive or not!? Once again, my subconscious wins.

"Stop imaginating things. Anyway, I've to ask you something," I changed the subject.

"About what?"

"About you and Rick."

"Oh.. right uh.. we.. um.. we are dating," she squirmed nervously.

"Dating!? Since when? And Nate?" I can't believe that Joey was right!

"Since this morning. We talked after you left me on the bench. Nate is with Lucy, so why can't I be with Rick?" she argued, keeping her real emotions at bay.

"But till this morning you were in love with Nate. I think it's a misunders-"

"Abby, I won't change my decision. The truth is that Nate toyed me and I won't allow it anymore. See you later," she closed the discussion and got up, leaving me alone with my uneaten sandwich.
