ALEX’S POV:

I closed my door once Ashton was out of sight.

I smiled bigger not knowing the reason.

I turned around and gasped when I saw Jessie standing near me.

“Where have you been?” She asked.

“Why are you up?” I changed the subject.

“I asked you first Alex.” She narrowed her eyes.

“I went out obviously.” I answered her question. “Now answer me.”

“I used the toilet then I saw that your bed was empty.” She answered. “You went out… with Ashton?” Jessie asked with a smirk painted on her face.

“Don’t look at me.” I said, turning into the old me.

The soul-less and heartless, dark girl.

“You know, I don’t like this.” Jessie said. She pressed her lips hard.

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“This Alex.” She said while pointing at me. “I like the girly one. The one who smiles. The one who has twinkles on her eyes when she’s happy.” She continued.

I rolled my eyes and walked towards my bed.

“I honestly miss the old you Alexandria.” I heard Jessie said.

She used my full first name. It means she’s serious. It means she means it.

I looked at her and saw her eyes gleaming.

“Don’t start Jessie.” I said while laying down on my bed, covering my body with the duvet.

“I don’t really care if you haven’t got any sleep! I need you to listen to me!” Jessie shouted.

My blood started to boil.

I stood up and looked at her.

“Is it my fault that this happened to me?!” I asked her.

“Yes Alex! It is! It’s not always Luke!” Jessie answered.

That made me stop.

She has a point.

The sound of our chests rising and falling was the only sound I can hear.

“You don’t need to change Alex.” She said. “You should’ve talked to me.”

I haven’t really told Jessie how or why Luke broke up with me. All I did was called her and told her that I needed her. She tried asking me why did Luke broke up with me. I just shut my mouth and cried.

Since then, I changed. I stopped talking for 2 months. I stopped smiling for like… forever. But that was until I met Ashton. I don’t really know why but he makes me smile.

“Let’s talk tomorrow.” I said.

I threw myself on my bed and hid under the duvet. I felt warm liquid on my face. I’m crying. I’m shaking.

Jessie and I never really had a fight. We had playful fights but fights that are this serious? Never.

I heard Jessie’s bed lower down. I can hear her crying.

Jessie can be very bossy and pushy at some time but she’s still my bestfriend. At the end of the day, she’s still there for me.

I stood up and walked toward Jessie’s bed. I sat down and hugged her.

“I’m sorry.” She sobbed.

“You don’t need to say sorry Jessica. It’s not your fault. I understand you.” I said, tears falling down my face.

I brushed her long golden brown hair with my fingers.

I tried calming her down and I was successful.

I end up sleeping beside Jessie.

I woke up this morning because of my phone. It was ringing very loud. I, again, forgot to lower the volume.

I stretched my arms and legs before getting up.

I saw Jessie looking at me.

“Good morning.” I greeted her.

“Good morning.” She greeted back.

I walked towards my night stand and answered my phone without looking at the caller’s ID.

“Hello?”

“Hey!” I hear a familiar Aussie accent greeted me. Ashton.

“Oh! Hey! Good morning.” I smiled even if he can’t see me.

“Can we meet today?” He asked.

I looked at Jessie.

“I’m not sure…” I answered.

“Why?” He whined like a nine year old would.

“I’m spending time with my best friend.” I said.

“Oh… well… see you around, I guess.” I can hear him smiling.

“Sure… I guess.” I smiled too.

“Alright bye!”

“Bye.”

I hanged up first and placed my phone back to my nightstand.

I looked at Jessie and saw her jumping up and down her bed.

“Let’s go shopping!!!”
