Amanda grabbed her bookbag out of her locker and put her books in it.
Ebony had to stay after to retake a unit test for her Spanish class. Amanda had considered staying after too, but the only place she could go to wait was the library. Since Cupid's main area is there, she didn't want to stay in there too long.
Amanda decided that she would go alone today. She checked the hallways as she walked. There were a few students left, but not a lot. Once she entered, she went to the back, the librarian absent from the front desk.
She looked around; she was the only person inside. She took out her key as she checked the library again.
Once the key unlocked the lock, she heard a shout, "A-ha!"
Amanda whipped in the direction of the voice; it was Cynthia holding a phone in her hand.
'Oh Crud!'
"Wait till Caitlyn sees this!"
Amanda didn't show any fear on her face; she couldn't. Otherwise, Cynthia wouldn't believe what she was about to say.
"Go on and show her, " Amanda spat, "I don't care what you do, but I'm not Cupid. I'm her messenger, so no satisfaction for you."
Amanda turned her back to Cynthia, creating an act that suggested to Cynthia that she didn't care.
Cynthia, still recording, was confused, "Huh?"
Amanda opened the box and saw that there were no slips inside, she closed and locked the box and continued to speak, "Cupid is a student at this school, that I know. She knew who I was and that I had no after school activities or clubs to attend to."
She turned to Cynthia and continued, "I found her note in my locker, she wanted to hire me to bring her letters to her and deliver them for her. I wanted to be useful in a way, so I accepted."
Amanda picked up her bag and started to walk out. Before she could leave, Cynthia was shouting at her, "So you know who Cupid is?"
Amanda tensed, she didn't think of how to respond, "Uh...I never saw her..All I got was the note." She said the first thing that came to her mind
"I know you're lying! How could you tell if Cupid was a boy or a girl?!"
"Because of the font and writing style, I guess?! I'm only assuming!"
The librarian walked back out to the front, "What's going on in here?"
Cynthia tried to explain, "I-she-!" She had pointed in Amanda's direction to blame her, but Amanda was already gone.

Elliot went to the big playground behind the school's fence. He had told Lilith that that's where they were going to meet.
After reading Cupid's note, he had planned and practiced what he was going to say to her.
Of course, a part of him was screaming at him to call Lilith back and tell her that he was joking with her and that they had nothing to talk about. The other part of him told him to be a man and tell her how he felt.
Elliot was slowly swaying on the swings when he heard Lilith's voice, "Ellie?"
As soon as he heard her voice, his heart started hammering in his chest. His breathing was becoming irregular, but he held himself together.
Elliot got off the swings and approached her.
"Ellie? What's wrong?"
Elliot took her hands into his and started to speak, "Lilith, do you still remember to this day how we met?"
Lilith chuckled, "Yeah! I saved you from falling off the swings! Kinda weird considering that you wanted to talk near them."
Elliot laughed, "I find it better to talk to you near the swings since they are the reason why we met.
Ever since that day, I was so afraid to get back on them from fear that I would fall off them again. All the other kids gave up on playing with me because I was scared of something silly like the swings, but you...you were so patient. Every day at recess, you would always ask me if I was ready to get back on them. All the time, I would say no, and you would make me play something else, something that would make me happy."
Lilith smiled back at him as he continued, "At the time, I didn't realize how nice you were. I would assume that you were doing it because you were bored and had nothing else to do. But later, I knew you did it because you wanted to help me."
Lilith smiled and got closer, "I remember that day when you said that you were ready to get back on them. I was so happy because I loved the swings when I was little, so I hoped that you would swing with me."
"And I did. We swung together so much that the kids even made sure not to touch those specific two swings because they knew that they were ours. The teachers had to pull us into the building because we would still swing when they called for the children to come in."
Elliot and Lilith laughed together at the past. Good memories were enough to make them forget anything wrong that might have happened that day.
Lilith wanted to keep reminiscing at the precious memories, but she realized that Elliot probably didn't ask her to stay after because he wanted to recall the past.
"Why did you call me here, Elliot?"
Elliot tensed but quickly relaxed. As Cupid said, this was his best friend; he could tell her, he needed to tell her.
"Lilith, know that you mean everything to me. I get so excited when I get a chance to talk to you. Every time I heard your name, I would always become so happy because of who you are. Every time I would think about you, your pretty smile is the first thing that comes to my mind."
'What is he going on about?' Lilith thought.
"Ever since we met, I wanted us to stay best friends forever so we could always stay close. But...I don't want that anymore."
Lilith tensed, 'What does he mean?'
Elliot held Lilith close, "I want us to be more than friends Lilith. I want our relationship to go even further so we can get even closer. I always wanted this ever since we were in the ninth grade. I didn't say anything about it because I was scared that you wouldn't accept me."
Elliot kissed Lilith's hand, "I see now how ridiculous that thought was. We don't have to be a couple if you don't want to, we can stay best friends and nothing else. But I just wanted you to know that I love you, Lilith."
Lilith didn't respond to Elliot, just staring at him with a tint of red on her cheeks.
Elliot flushed, 'Oh no. Why isn't she saying anything?! I messed up! I messed-'
His thoughts were interrupted by a kiss.

"I didn't join you for one day, Amy! One. Day. And you already got caught?"
Ebony was yelling at Amanda over the phone. She had called Amanda because she was home now after finishing her test. Amanda decided to tell Ebony about the meeting with Cynthia and was currently getting chewed out by her.
"I'm sorry! I checked all around the library and saw no one there! She came out of nowhere!"
"I expected that Caitlyn would get on this sooner or later. Caitlyn's probably going to be all up on you now that she knows you're Cupid's messenger."
Amanda sighed. She knows that the teasing will be turned up a notch. She'll have to deal with it for now.
