Amanda had finished her homework and looked at the small pencil box on her desk. That box contained two slips of paper for Cupid.
Amanda didn't want to open the box at first; too scared that she couldn't handle what was inside.
She promised herself before she officially decided to be Cupid that she had to be brave and do the job she signed up for.
Taking a deep breath, she opened the box and took out one of the papers. The handwriting looked rushed as if someone was in a hurry to write it:
"Dear Cupid,
This is not a love advice question, but I just wanted to thank you for eavesdropping on my phone conversation. If you hadn't, I'd probably still be with Caitlyn right now. I will admit, my willpower wasn't active at that time, but your little note was enough to help me. Thank you, Cupid. I hope that you can make others happy just like you made me.
-Red Williams"
Amanda blushed at the note.
Red's thank you note had raised Amanda's confidence a bit. She imagined if everyone could be happy like Red because of her.
With that thought in mind, Amanda decided to write back to Red in a confident manner:
"Dear Red Williams,
You don't need to thank me my darling~. It's my job! I'm glad you're much happier now and enjoying your life to the fullest. You're only a teen once after all! If you ever have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask me!
This is your story. You control what happens, no one else~!
-Cupid"
Amanda put the lilac paper in the pencil box and picked up the second piece of paper.
The paper had lots of marks, suggesting that the person had to erase and change some things they wrote:
"Dear Cupid,
I'm not entirely confident writing this to you, but I'm trying anyway.
I need help. I'm in love with my best friend to be straightforward. We've been friends since elementary school, and only now, I see that I want to be more than friends. I wish to tell her, but there were lots of guys who confessed their love to her, and she rejected every single one of them. I can say that she's not interested in any romantic relationship. I'm scared that if she refuses me, this will ruin our friendship. I don't know if you can help me, but if not, I'm glad that I had someone to tell this to who probably won't judge me.
-Elliot Jenkins
Locker # 2945"
Amanda sadly read the note. Her heart hurt a bit from reading Elliot's letter; she wanted to help him.
After five minutes of thinking and a draft, Amanda knew what to write to him:
"Dear Elliot,
I'm glad that you mustered up the confidence to confess this to me, and based on what I saw on your note, there were lots of second thoughts.
I will tell you this, tell her how you feel. I would rather have you tell her, and you get her feedback rather than you stay in the dark.
Maybe she feels the same way, but you won't know until you tell her. Take it slow, don't rush your feelings, plan what you're going to say in advance, and prepare yourself for a possible rejection.
