UMBRELLA BOY

You had been out grocery shopping. A bag in each hand. On your way back home, it started to pour down with rain.

You saw a bus shelter up ahead and ran under it. Placing the bags down on the seats. You brushed your fingers through your damp hair and swatted at the raindrops on your jacket as you sighed.

Your attention was suddenly caught by the cafe across the road. A couple sat at the window.

The guy leaned in to kiss the girl. He looked familiar, but you couldn't tell where you saw him. The girls hair hid his face.

You blushed, thinking of your boyfriend of 3 years.

Why can't he be affectionate like that with me? Am I too needy? Maybe these things just ware off as time goes by. Relationships aren't the same as the first few months.

You sigh heavily, feeling a little sad.

"Ugh this weather! I have a job interview to get to" a young lady complained as she ran under the bus shelter beside you.

You looked to her, feeling sorry for her. "Good luck anyways." You give a polite smile.

"Yeah.. I need it" she chuckled nervously as she was fixing her dress.

You looked back at the cafe. The couple were gone from the window. Your attention caught to the door as it opened up and your heart dropped. You felt like someone had punched your throat, stopping you from breathing. You wanted to throw up as hot tears filled your eyes.

"K-Kang Soo" you whisper choked his name as you saw him  pull off his jacket and hold it above the girls head. The same girl he kissed earlier, who now placed her arm around his waist. They both laughed as they ran off together sheltered under the jacket.

"Are you okay?" The young lady, who was beside you at the bus shelter asked.

Your tears fell down your cheeks as you snatched up your grocery bags.

"I-Im fine" you hurried out of the bus shelter, though it was still raining hard. Of course you weren't fine. You just saw your boyfriend cheat on you. You didn't care about getting wet now. You just wanted to get home. In your safe place, where nobody could hurt you. Hide under the covers of your bed.

You ran through the rain, crying hard, not knowing whether it was the tears or rain that blurred your vision. You stepped into puddles, as the water splashed onto you, drenching you even more.

But suddenly you came to a stop as you fell into a hard chest.

"Woah there! Slow down." A strong arm wrapped around your waist, holding you steady as you were still crying, but you couldn't feel the rain over your head anymore as the guy was holding an umbrella.

"Are you okay?" The soft, concerned voice asked.

You pushed away from the stranger, not wanting to be around anyone right now, especially not another man.

"I h-have to go" you take a few steps out of the umbrella, but he instantly grabs your arm and pulls you back under.

"Noona! Are you crazy? It's raining. You'll get sick."

Wiping at your eyes with the back of your hands, you look up at the guy who just called you Noona. You noticed his broad shoulders first.

How could this boy be younger than me to call me Noona? His shoulders are so huge he could be a grown man!
You think to yourself.

Then his caring eyes that sparkled, two beauty marks above his left eye. A unique trait and the soft smile on his lips. Your aching heart warmed a bit.

You realised you had seen him somewhere

You realised you had seen him somewhere. Then it clicked. He was a year younger than you and went to your college. Jaebeom. You had once saw him putting out flyers around college, for his lost cat and you had helped him.

"That's the least of my worries right now." You choke out bitterly as you step away, to walk off.

You hear him follow after you. He puts the umbrella above your head. "Noona! I don't know what struggles you may be facing, but you have to atleast take care of your health."

You sigh heavily. "I guess I will just have to put up with you quietly, even though I don't want to be around another man" You grumble.

He doesn't say anything as he hurries to keep up with you.

Now you feel bad for being rude to him.

You stop suddenly and turn to look at him, huffing. "Look I'm not a mean person. I don't want to be mean, but I don't want... another... another man near me r-right now." You choked again "I just saw my boyfriend of 3 years cheating on me." Tears surface your eyes again, your lips tremble.

"I'm sorry. He is horrible! But trust me I'm not just any other man. I'll drop you off wherever you need to go and I'll leave you alone"

You fall down to the balls of your feet, dropping your grocery bags and cry, your face burried in your hands.

You suddenly get pulled into his arms that wrap around you and you hold onto him crying hard. "Why do I have the worst luck with men! Why did this have to happen to me!" You say through sobs. "Am I too easy?"

"Shhh it's okay.  It's going to be okay. I promise you'll get through this. It's not your fault. He is the bad one." Jaebeom comforted you, the umbrella was already off as rain fell on the both of you.

I had already written this chapter before and it was much lengthier and a better story line, but it got deleted some how and I was really down about it for a bit. So I tried to rewrite it from what I remembered, so if it seems a bit rushed and it's a sucky chapter I'm sorry but please don't come at me. I'll do better for the next one.

Thank you for reading.
