(D. k.)
You took my heart from darkness,
And made it yours.
Transitioned my pain,
And called it love.
Rescued me from the bondage of fear.
Took upon my cross, that was so heavy to bear.
I was only a kid, who knew nothing.
Left to fight the wars of life,
Even before I was barely walking.
I grew empty, cold, and despiteful.
Learnt to think the world was cruel, and hateful.
But then you came in,
And made my thinking evolve,
Keeping me at bay to your love.I was scared to open my eyes in the darkness.
But you held my hands, in the mist of beasts and monsters.
And taught me courage,
That I could win my wars.
You opened my eyes to see the light,
But then you dug your fingers deep into my eye sockets,
And you ripped away my sight.
I imagined you were an angel, sent for my redemption.
But then you opened my eyes to see a demon;
Smiling at me with your malevolent intentions.
Lurking and staring.
Just waiting for me to give you permission,
To destroy what was left of my broken heart. But I did, didn't I?
You swooped right in at the slightest opportunity,
And you ripped me of my humanity.
Now, my body wanders the earth,
And my soul is at bay to your wishes.
Now I'm a walking dead, roaming with shackles.
Thinking of how I could have survived,
If I had never placed my future,
Into your hands.
Trust is a funny thing, you see.
But I should have known better,
Than to put my trust,
In a beer bottle.
