(L. b.)
You sat there in the corner,
Looking as radiant as ever.
I had seen so many beautiful,
But never had I seen one so elegant.
I watched as the crowd whirled, and their bodies swayed.
Yet still, you sat all by yourself in the corner.
I stared at your eyes the whole time,
And all the time I stare,
I didn't see someone lonely or sad;
I saw a woman who enjoyed the company of herself,
Regardless of how many people stared,
As you sat quietly watching them sway along in pairs.
All the time I stared,
All I wondered was why your heart wasn't stolen by another.
I reached over to you,
Gathering the courage to ask you for just one dance.
I stretched my hands out to you, lowering my head in a bow.
With all the surprise in my heart, you placed your palms in mine.
I took hold of your hand without hesitation,
Slowly leading you to the dance floor.
In the background played a beautiful sad piano instrumental.
I took hold of your waist, gently pulling you closer to me.
You placed your left hand on my right shoulder,
Fixing you eyes on mine.
Your face sparkled under the reflection of the moonlight,
And your cheeks lit up with a smile.
I was wrong, never had I seen anyone so beautiful.
I took you into my arms, placing your head on my chest,
As our bodies began to rock gently.
Slowly, seconds turned minutes,
and minutes turned hours;
But time was far beyond our perspectives.
We danced slowly to the rhythm of instrumental,
And our souls swayed along.
Everyone and everything had varnished before my eyes,
And all I saw was you;
Looking so immaculate and ravishing.
My breath had ceased, and heart had skipped.
I lifted your chin up once again,
So I could stare into your eyes just one more time.
In your eyes I found peace, solitude, strength;
A beautiful combination all in one.
I stroked your lips slowly with my right thumb,
Gently landing on them a kiss.
My heart trembled at my lack of impulsive control,
But then, you kissed back.
Your lips on mine was not that of lust,
But that of compassion and love.
All the time we danced,
I had never had a conversation before,
Like the one we did with just our eyes.
I placed your head back on my chest,
and we continued swaying.
I didn't mind it was all a dream,
Because it was just one perfect night with you.
