~Ava~
I rubbed my eyes and my eyelids fluttered open. The covers fell off of me as I stood up and walked to my closet. There it sat. My jersey. The thought flew out of my head as I grabbed my phone and trotted downstairs. Saturdays have always been my favorites. No certain time to be awake, no certain time to fall into a deep sleep. Unless you're me. As dedicated as I am to sleeping, every Saturday morning I still managed to crawl onto the football field and practice.
"You're gonna be late Ava!" my mom walked down the stairs with her usual "Messy Mother Look" which consisted of a messy bun, a pink robe thrown over a grey tank top and plaid pajama paints, and to top it all off, brown fuzzy slippers.
"I'm going to get dressed now mom don't worry" I said shoving cereal in my mouth and flying up the stairs.
As soon as I got to my room I pulled the door shut behind me and pushed the blinds to my window down. My clothes for practice were laying on my bed. I got ready and pulled my clothes on. I grabbed everything I needed for practice, hopped on my bike and rode off to practice.
Practice ended quickly and Sam walked up to me. "Hey why were you so quiet when they were talking about the quarterback stuff?"
Flashback~
He ran through the opposing team, panting heavily. Eric Prestoc, my boyfriend, star quarterback, was about to win our game.
"Run Eric!" I shouted over the cheers.
He ran until he was only feet away from victory.Within a matter of seconds, a huge opposing player tackled him with all of his force. The cheers died as a snap echoed throughout the field. Eric laid on the ground without a movement.
"ERIC!" I shrieked, running out to him "CALL AN AMBULANCE, SOMEONE!" I shouted, my eyes filled with tears.
Paramedics ran to him and carried him out into an ambulance. That was the last I saw of my beloved Eric. Days later, he was announced dead, as the attack from the player snapped his neck, cutting off his blood and air flow. Having a new quarterback the next year would be hard. Nothing would ever replace Eric Prestoc.
