My alarm clock jolted me awake. The bright red letters flashed "4:00 am." My brother probably set it early to bug me. I rolled my eyes as I pushed the covers off of me. My closet door had today's outfit on a hanger so I picked it up and put it on. A casual yellow dress, denim jacket, and cowboy boots. After I brushed my teeth I sat in my window couch. Don't worry, I showered last night I'm not disgusting. I opened up my window and saw Sam sitting at his window with his window open.

"Hey stranger." I said leaning my head out of the window.

"Hello Ava" Sam put down his laptop and leaned his head out. "What brings you to these early hours?"

"My brother Darren set my alarm to four am"

"I just got up because I need to finish some forms. I'm trying out for football." he held up some papers.

"Good luck. Unless you've played football since fifth grade there's no chance of making our schools team." I pointed out.

"I've played football since second grade actually."

"Position?" I asked.

"Quarterback."

"Sweet, I'm the kicker." I said proudly.

He raised an eyebrow "You play?"

"Yep, since seventh grade."

"Well I'll see you at tryouts. Anyways, I have to ride my bike to school so I should probably get going." he said as he leaned back into his room.

"I'm riding my bike too" I leaned back into my room, "see you on the sidewalk"
