~Ed~
Ava came down the stairs. I couldn't be happier that Evelyn and her kids were moving in with us. Zach poked my arm.
"Look at the amazing light fixture" he pointed out. It was amazing.
"Ready to eat?" Evelyn came out with a pot of lasagna.
"Smells good darling" I said as she set the pot down and sat next to Ava.
"So how was your project Ava?" Darren asked Ava.
"It was easy, we got it done fast." she said picking at her salad.
"So anyways I don't like that Sam boy." I blurted out.
"Sweetie. Um. He's a really sweet boy, he repainted Ava's room with her and redecorated the bathrooms." Evelyn defended.
"I spoke with him earlier and we talked about the move. He said he was happy about it and eager to help." I looked Ava in the eye "Honey he doesn't really care about you" I whispered to her.
"Ed!" Evelyn yelled.
"It's true. She's 15 there's no such thing as love"
"Can I talk to you in the kitchen?" Zach asked me.
I nodded and excused us. We headed into the kitchen and closed the door.
"What the hell are you doing?" he asked
"I'm just trying to get them to hate this place so the move will happen faster." I shrugged.
"Dad. Look, Piper, Darren, Ava and I. We want to move here. We have no friends to say goodbye to. Ava loves Sam. I went up to her room because I thought she was here still and I saw them in his room. I see the way he looks at her and the way she looks at him. It's a love that is inseparable. You can't split them apart. Please Dad do this for me. Ava won't hate you. Just stop with the whole, 'I'm a jerky asshole named Ed' act okay? Just please don't separate them. Please." he begged. I'd never seen him like this before.
I nodded my head and we headed back into the dining room. "Evelyn I don't want to separate Sam and Ava" I whispered into Evelyn's eat. "I think we should move here"
Her eyes lit up and she smiled. "Yeah." she whispered back "Kids! There's a change in plans!" Ava looked up, hope in her eyes. "Ed and his children will be moving into our house! Ava. You're excused, you know what I mean" she smiled and winked at Ava.
"Oh my god mom thank you so much" her eyes became glossy. She jogged out the door and we watched her from the window.
She knocked on the door and Sam walked out. Ava smiled while talking fast and she jumped into his arms and they had a really long hug and then walked into his house.
"Thank you Dad" Zach mouthed to me.
