25. Break Pt.2

Sydney P.O.V

I walked in the rain feeling better about myself, well not half as bad about myself and I looked up at the buzzing light that was above me. Space it said and I frown at the place seeing Levi inside talking to Luke. I pulled out my phone and looked at over 14 missed calls from Levi, my current boyfriend. I took a deep breath and pushed open the door, and Levi looked at me from the chair he was cleaning and so did Luke.

"Sorry lady luck, but we not open yet," Luke said and Levi sat in the chair and looked at me.

"Jessica was the one who told you Kate liked you but it was a lie," I said and Luke looked at me, then to Levi, then back to me.

"Is that bitch Jessica your mother?" He said leaning onto the counter.

"Yeah, she is but she gave me up for adoption," I said quickly lying and Luke laughed.

"We that shit doesn't matter much anyways, not like Kate is still around." 

"Kate loved you, more than you though, but never in the way you wanted," I said and Levi looked at me hard and Luke did as well.

"That night you met Kate, she was in the rain, shivering cold, tipsy because she wasn't a drinker, and was just kicked out of a bar with her drunk friend Gloria. She was pulling Gloria with her and she was you in front of the broken down trailer house and asked you for 25 cents to make a call from the pay phone. SHe was how beautiful your green is where, and how you didn't have one tattoo on you, or how the cigars you smoke where expensive. She instantly trusted you, and when I drove her and Gloria home, she wanted to kiss you, but she decides to go on a date with you." The room was almost so still that the air didn't move, they both just looked at me and Luke's eyes where red telling me he wanted to cry.

"You two talked on the phone every night for a week, about everything, you wanted to open an auto parts store, and she even designed the storefront for you. The night of your date, one of her friends wanted to buy drugs from you, and she wanted to smoke too. So she walked into the side of the trailer home and was you, with a clean white shirt, black jeans, black shoes, hair nicely pushed back, with a denim jacket. You smiled at her and just before you hugged her Levi walked out." I said looking at Levi who looked at the ground with a smile.

"He was dirty, smelled like a dirty man and when he looked at her, when there eyes locked, they both fell in love. She didn't know his name, his life, his friends, his name, his favorite color, but she knew she was going to spend her life finding out, and he knew as well. Then she looked back to you, and you knew she wanted him not you." I said stopping when I heard Luke sniffle and Levi looked at me.

"Hell I knew that I knew she like him, and I knew she was an amazing woman, that's why I always supported Levi. He was a good man, and he needs a good woman in his life and he got that. Hell, that's why I can stand to see him every day, I love him, Levi is my right-hand man in life and if God bless me after but damn it I like her too!." He yelled and Levi looked at me with a blank face telling me they talked about this.

"Well, how do you tell someone that you don't love them!" I yelled back feeling the tears on my face.

"Just like that Kate!" He stopped and looked at me.

"I mean, whoever you are girl." He said tossing the broom down.

He turned his back to me and looked at Levi, and Levi smiled at him and he smiled back warming my heart. After all of that, these two are still best friends, and that was shocking to the girl that though she broke them up.

"She loved you, and if she was here she would thank you," I said making Luke turn and look at me.

"Because of you, she met Levi and got to live her life happily, understand herself, have a son, experience life with happiness. She would also like to say sorry to you because you are an amazing man, and happiness is something that you should have and she is sorry for standing in the way of you finding that." I said and Luke smiled, and Levi laughed a little.

"Tell your mama, I'm not mad at Kate, she was a great woman, and I and Levi both cried like babies at her funeral. If she was here, I would tell her I forgive her, and I hope she made it to those pearly gates. Now, do you want a tattoo? we open in five minutes." Luke said walking to the back.

"That was mighty nice of you, Kate," Levi said walking to me.

"It was something that always bothered me, but I'm happy he's happy," I said and Levi smiled.

"I haven't seen him smile that big since the last time he was you," Levi said smiling.

"I wanted to talk with you," I said and shook his head.

"You don't have too, because I already Kate, I'm sorry for everything I couldn't do, and I hope you're proud of everything I did." He said pulling me to him and softly kissing my forehead, and I looked at him

"Hey look at that, your nose hasn't bleed once looking at me, maybe that's a good sign. If you need to talk with anyone it's the other Levi, he sure has a lot of questions." He said just as the door opened behind us.

"Are you guys still doing that sell?" A young boy asked with like 5 other guys behind them.

"Sure are come on in," Levi said and I was pushed out the door.

I walked passed the window and my chest was lighter all over again and this time I walked in the light rain, with a weak smile on my face about to deal with the last person.
