Lord prince Egohon was seated on a coral throne inside a small hall. The throne was at the head of a long table which had several rough-looking mermen and mermaids along the sides. The Lord prince looked very bored.

"All I wish to hear is that the merchant vessel is approaching the trade site," he said. "I hate discussing my governing affairs with brutes like you. I have a royal council for that."

"The merchants nears the site as we speak," one of the mermen informed the lord prince. "The slaves are already being loaded into the transporter. We shall make a clean trade, but we demand a place on your royal council, my lord."

"You are barbaric merfolk," said Egohon. "You are only good for what I say you are. You will not give me orders, but take my own. You ever use the word DEMAND when speaking to me again and I shall pull my soldiers out of your territories, that my evil father may take it."

"Madness!" One of the mermen snapped, slamming his fist on the table.

"I dare you to try me!!" Egohon barked back, his face contorting in anger.

"We apologize, my lord," another of the mermen spoke immediately. "Calm down Trenal, lest we lose all our ancestors have fought for."

A merman in armor swam into the hall now.

"My lord, the strange human girl has fled the city!" He announced.

"What?!!" Egohon thundered, rising from his seat.

"Greyan helped her get out and bears her towards King Speriol's troops as we speak," the soldier announced.

"And you are here instead of going after them?!"

"The entire sixth battallion is in pursuit already, my lord," the soldier replied.

"Get me my spear!" Egohon ordered as he swam towards the exit. The babarian mermfolk followed after him immeidately.

Mayu had her arms around Greyan's waist, while the mermaid swam as fast as she could go. Mayu's legs would never move her half as fast as Greyan's tail was bearing them right now.

"They come," said the mermaid, looking back.

Mayu looked back and saw at least fifty merfolk coming after them. They had on armor and carried weapons. Greyan had been telling the truth. Mayu was scared out of her wits. She didn't want to be a slave.

"Can't you go any faster?!" She yelled.

"I bear you and that slows me down," Greyan replied. "Also, those are soldiers trained for speed. We cannot outswim them."

"Well you should have mentioned that before you dragged me out of the city!" Mayu complained.

Greyan turned upward and moved towards the surface.

"What are you doing?!" Mayu asked. "Your water king's soldiers can't be up there!"

"You had the power to escape once, perhaps you will be able to do it again!" Greyan replied.

I told you I wasn't the one who did that!" Mayu screamed. "Are the people on this world deaf?!"

"Oh no," Greyan said suddenly.

"Oh no?" Mayu asked. "Why oh no?"

Greyan stopped swimming now and she looked up. Mayu looked up also and saw the base of a ship sitting on the surface of the water.

"It's a ship," said Mayu. "They might help us."

"It sits still because it is waiting," Greyan stated. "It is waiting for its cargo to be brought up from below."
