I never meant to hurt you;
I never meant to lie.
But, darling, if I stayed with you,
I know I would surely die.
The more time I spent with you,
The more time I felt alone.
I have changed since the day we first met;
I am no longer the girl you came to know.
So in the end,
I had to let you go,
And I hope now it is clear to see:
Spending another moment with you
Would have surely been the death of me.
