It is not selfish
To act in accordance of
Your best interests;
To move on with your life
And look out for your future.
It is not selfish
To remove yourself
From a toxic relationship —
Be it platonic, familial, or romantic.
It is not selfish
To love who you are.
It is vital to love yourself
And to remember
That you are irreplaceable.
It is not selfish
To be confident in yourself;
For it is far more disheartening
To loathe one's own
Appearance and existence
Than it is smile
At one's own reflection.
It is selfish, however,
To never consider the feelings
Of others;
To never consider
How your words or actions
Might affect them.
It is selfish
To receive and never give
In return.
It is selfish
To believe you are
Superior to all others;
That you are somehow above the rest.
It is selfish
To never comfort another,
But expect comfort from your friends.
