Brooklyn shivered, wrapping his arm securely around his waist as he walked down the road toward the park. It was late, and also very dark. But Brooklyn didn't mind. Unlike most people who found the dark to be eerie and spooky; he enjoyed it, finding it peaceful.

He found his way to the park, heading straight to the swing. Taking a seat, he lightly kicked off from the ground, rocking backwards and forwards, but not high enough for his feet to leave the ground.

Sighing, he pulled a lighter out of his pocket, hunching over so he could light a cigarette, before raising it to his lips and breathing in. Instantly, he felt calmer. He looked up and exhaled, allowing the smoke to escape his lips. The sky looked particularly beautiful and never failed to amaze Brooklyn. There was something about the way the stars shined brightly and the way the moon glowed that made him smile.

"Long day?" A voice asked him, causing Brooklyn to jump out of his skin. He twisted round in his seat to see a man standing behind him. He couldn't work out specific facial expressions due to the lack of light, but from what he could make out; the stranger was tall and had fairly dark hair. He worse a plaid button up shirt and a pair of ripped skinny jeans. The stranger smiled at him apologetically.

"I didn't mean to scare you. I'm Jack" He introduced. Brooklyn smiled, noting that Jack had a clear Irish accent.

"It's uh...its fine. I'm Brooklyn" He replied slowly.

"Mind if I join you?" Jack asked, pointing to the swing next to Brooklyn. Blushing, Brooklyn nodded his head and Jack sat down beside him.

"So...What's an angel like you doing out here all on your own in the cold?" Jack questioned, looking over to blonde boy. Brooklyn scoffed and rolled his eyes, raising the cigarette to his lips and took another drag.

"None of your business really, is it?" He answered, raising his eyes. Jack pouted.

"No...But you look sad," He paused for a few seconds "You know, those really aren't good for you" He commented, motioning toward the cigarette between Brooklyn's lips. Brooklyn shrugged.

"I know. But it's a good stress reliever"

Once again, Brooklyn went to raise it to his lips, but Jack removed it from his hand before he could use it, throwing it on the ground and stamping it out. Brooklyn glared at Jack, but the Irish boy simply shrugged.

"So...What's going on?" Jack asked again, causing Brooklyn to sigh.

"I had an argument with my friend, Andy. Um...I said some things, he said some things...and it all got blown up and out of proportion and...I left" Brooklyn explained vaguely. He didn't know why, but he felt like he could trust Jack, even though he had only met him moments ago.

"Well, I don't know this Andy guy as well as you probably do, but maybe it was just a 'heat of the moment' thing and he probably didn't mean anything he said. And you probably didn't either. I would give him time to cool off, and maybe try and talk to him about it when he's a lot calmer," Jack suggested. "Sorry. I'm proper shit when it comes to giving advice"

Brooklyn smiled, placing a hand in top of Jack's, which was resting on his knee.

"Nah. You're a lot better than some people I know"

A similar smile appeared on Jack's face, as he looked over to the blonde boy. He didn't know why he felt so strongly towards someone he had just met, but Brooklyn made his heart beat twice as fast, and the
butterflys flutter in his stomach whenever they made eye contact.

"I'd better go. They'll be wondering where I am," Brooklyn said, almost sadly, feeling his phone vibrate in his back pockets "I'll see you again though, won't I?"

Jack bit the inside of his lip, before quickly nodding his head.
"See ya, Brooky"

Brooklyn watched as the tall lad left the park, smiling at the fact he had a small bounce in his step. He was broken out of his daydream by his phone, his ringtone destroying the peaceful silence. He looked down, seeing Andy's contact name light up the screen.

Then, it dawned on him that he never got Jack's number...
