Jessica watched from afar as the boys, except for Johnny, went after the socs who were attacking Ponyboy. She watched as Soda tended to his brother after he was just spooked by those socs. It infuriated Jessica that those piece of trash rich kids would attack her people.

The group walked back over to the house, and Dallas took his place outside by leaning on a car. He whipped out a cigarette and began puffing at it, Jessica stayed by his side. "How's the kid?" Dallas asked from afar.

"I'm fine." Ponyboy nodded, walking over to Dal and Jess.

"Who's this?" Pony asked about Jessica.

"My girlfriend, Jessica." Dallas shrugged.

"What do ya think you're doing walking lonesome on the street, huh?!" Steve interjected as he joined the conversation.

"None of your business, smarty pants." Pony spat.

"What do you mean none of my business? It is! Look at my nose!" Steve pointed to his bloodied nose.

"Hey, Dally, how ya doin'? I thought you were in for about ninety days." Pony asked.

"Yeah I got out early, man. Good behavior." Dallas explained, then he walked over to Johnny.

"Hey, Johnny, man. How you doing bro?" Dallas asked, the shy boy.

"Things'd be better if the Socs stayed on the south side of town." Johnny spoke softly.

"Don't worry, Johnny. We'll have them out sooner or later. " Steve assured.

"We sure as hell are if they keep coming over on our side of town." Soda added.

"Those the same guys that got you?" Dallas asked Johnny.

"No. They're other guys." Johnny dug his hands inside of his pockets, to keep him from fidgeting with them.

"I'm gonna make it my business to get the guy who did that to your face." Dallas noted. Jess hadn't even realized that Johnny's face was all cut up and bruised. He always had his head hanging low, so she couldn't see until that moment.

"What do you think about me being your personal bodyguard, huh, Ponyboy?" Two-Bit joked.

"I don't think it's too hot of an idea." Ponyboy scoffed.

"I'm gonna go hunt some action. Little kids are allowed." Dallas curtly nodded at Johnny and Pony.

"Oh, man. Well go with you. Won't we Pony?" Johnny perked up.

"I don't know, Dal. I can't get in no trouble with the cops. Darry says the court will split us up for sure if I do." Pony shook his head.

"Hey, who's looking for trouble, man. I just wanna go see a movie. Right, Johnny?" Dal patter Johnny on the back.

"Yeah, man. Come on." Johnny instigated.

"I was planning on puttin' down a six pack, but if I don't get too drunk I'll come and join ya." Two-Bit butt in.

Dallas nodded and continued to puff at his cigarette. "See you guys later." Dal waved the boys off as he grabbed Jess' hand and led the two away to his car.

There was a strange noise made by the boys, they probably meant to say goodbye. Jess turned to look at them and she smiled. The boys' eyes lit up, and they all waved at her. She laughed lightly, then turned back around to continue walking with Dallas. She liked his friends, they were all kind— unlike how Dallas comes off when you first meet him.

The next night, Dal and Jess met up with Pony and Johnny in town to go the movie they were planning on. The four went to the movie and took their seats, eventually Two-Bit showed up to join the group. "I'm freezing, Dal." Jessica shivered in her ice cold seat.

"Why didn't you bring a coat, stupid." Dallas joked, but instantly went to give her his jacket that he was wearing. She rolled her eyes at him and gratefully took his jacket.

Just as she was about to focus on the movie, she saw a familiar face begin to approach her. Cherry and Marcia. Jessica sunk into her seat a bit, hoping they hadn't caught sight of her. Unfortunately, they had and walked toward her with a bright smile on their faces. "Jessica?" Cherry greeted.

Jessica cringed. Cherry and Marcia were socs, they hung out with her when she was scamming some of their friends. They didn't know she was a greaser. "Hey, Cherry and Marcia...." Jessica falsely smiled.

"What'dya doing sitting with these greasers?" Cherry looked around a bit disgusted.

"What are you doing sitting back here when you got a car?" Jessica retorted, kindly. The cinema was a drive in, there were seats in the back for those who didn't have a car.

"Bob was drunk again, and I couldn't take it." She shrugged, then forgot about her own question and took a seat in front of Jess.

Dallas then began wanted to lean into Jess, but she didn't want the socs to know she was affiliating herself with greasers. It'd ruin her business. So, she pushed him away. Dal furrowed his brows and continued to lean into her, his nose was buried in her hair. Once again, Jess pushed him away. Dallas suddenly stood and shot Jessica a look, silently telling her to follow him. The two walked to a hidden place where no one could hear or see them so that they could talk. "What's going on, Jess?" Dallas pushed her hair out of her face.

"Dal, you know what I do. They don't. If they find out I'm really a greaser, they'd tell all their buddies and I'd get no more business. I'd go broke." Jessica explained, she thought Dallas would've used his context clues to understand the situation, but he was clearly dumber than she thought.

Dallas groaned then pressed Jessica up against the wall behind her. He ran the pad of his thumb over her soft lips. He then brought his face close to her ear lobe, so that she could hear his heavy breaths. "This is for the time I won't be able to hold you." He whispered, then crashed his lips on hers. It was a thrilling experience and Jessica loved it, but she knew they had to part before people started growing suspicious as to why she and Dallas were gone for so long.
