~Waverly POV~
I don't even know how to describe this feeling. It's like me and my mind are two separate cars, traveling at high speeds down the same road and my mind forgot to signal before turning, leaving me to slam on my breaks and try to regain control. But I can't. I'm not in control anymore and it's becoming more and more obvious that I'm about to crash.
"Wynonna?" I don't want to believe that it's her, but the number on my screen was her phone number.
I see Nicole's face drop, probably into the same expression as my own. The wheels start turning in her mind and I can tell she's going through the same crash that I just experienced. We're both shaking. But on the inside, I'm calm like the center of a hurricane.
"Hey, babygirl!" I hear her voice and it's obvious that this is who I thought. "Is-is it really you? Waverly?"
I don't know how to respond. How does she have this number? Not even Chrissy knows it.
"Yeah." That's all I can say. "I'm putting you on speaker. Nicole's here."
I press a button on my phone and set it down on the bed between me and Nicole.
"Haughtstuff?" Wynonna chuckles sadly through the phone line. "Everyone thinks you're dead. Both of you. What happened? Are you okay? Where are you?"
"We're safe, Wynonna. That's all that matters." Nicole tries to reassure her, but it isn't working.
"Tell me where you are. I'll come get you!" Wynonna sounds desperate, which is understandable, she thought we were dead. "I've missed you both so much. When I found the car. . . Waverly, I thought you were gone. I thought you had died while we were still fighting."
"Wynonna," I hate to be so flat, so emotionless, but if I breakdown now, I won't be able to pull myself together again. "How did you get this number?"
"Someone named Betty Cooper."
Shit.
"I've been looking for every day for two years. I almost didn't believe it when Jughead showed me your picture." Her voice trails off so I clear my throat, asking her to continue. "When I left Purgatory a while back, when you were 9, I went to a lot of places. I was in Riverdale for a while. I joined the serpents, met Jughead's dad. God! I never even thought to look there!"
"Wynonna," I state simply. "Why did Jughead show you my picture?"
"I texted him. His dad wasn't responding and I got worried." She sounds shy, something I thought I'd never say about her. "FP gave me his son's number a long time ago, in case something happened. I'd never used it before. When I told him my name, he knew who I was. He wanted me to know that you're alright."
"I love you," Nicole has never said that to anyone but me. It kind of worries me that she's saying it to Wynonna. "Wynonna, I love you, but you can't call us ever again. Don't tell anyone that you've spoken with us. Don't tell anyone where we are. It isn't safe. And you know that."
"Nicole," Her voice seems fragile, broken. "I broke the curse. I did it. I shot all 77 revenants with Peacemaker. I thought one of them had taken both of you."
"What are you saying?" I know exactly what it means, but I almost don't want to hear it.
"You can come home now." She half whispers the answer to my question. "I'm in Riverdale now. Meet me at midnight, at the bridge over Sweetwater River. The one going out of town. I understand if you don't want to leave, you've made this your home, but I at least need to see you. I need to hold you."
