This isn't where their story ends, it's just the beginning of a new stage in their lives. )

~Nicole~

It's been a week now and Waverly's coming for visitation soon. I could barely sleep last night cause I'm so excited to see her. I haven't taken her sweatshirt off except for when I shower and we go outside, (I don't want it to get dirty cause then I would have to wash it and her scent would be gone.)

I know exactly what I'm going to say to her when she gets here. I've missed her voice so much that it hurts, and her smile. That adorable smile that makes her bunch up her nose and crinkle her eyes. And she smiles when she sings to me. I've always been able to tell that it makes her happy when I ask her to sing. And her voice is spectacular.

I remember the first song I ever heard her sing, it's kind of a funny story when I think about it, kind of sad too. Her uncle Curtis had just died and she was telling me about all of her memories with him. How he used to sing to her and Wynonna at night and Gus would be telling them to shut up. In the middle of her memory, she started singing.

All around the cobbler's bench

The monkey thought it was all in fun

Pop! Goes the weasel

It was so cute when she sang it. She sounded like a little kid again, but her voice had me completely thrown off balance. There's just something about the way she forms her words when she's singing. It's different than anything else I've ever heard. Even when she's just messing around, not trying to be serious, she has so much emotion, so much energy behind the notes and lyrics.

"Come on, Nicole." A tech walks up to me in the day room and motions for me to follow her. She's really nice to everyone, which I love because not all the workers are.

She leads me down the halls and outside, visitation is in a separate building.

"How long have you two been together?" She likes starting conversations with people.

"Well," I have to think about my answer for a moment. "I started dating Waverly a while ago. We were together for about three years, but we broke up a few weeks ago. Then we got back together after my. . ." I still hate using these words, they make me feel so. . . remorseful? "After I tried to kill myself. She sat with me for hours while I was recovering and she had this whole speech that somehow convinced me that I'm not a burden to her. Or to her sister. Or to my sister. Getting to see her is all I've been able to think about this week."

"Her sister," a look of realization spreads across her face. "Wynonna, right? Her sister's Wynonna Earp?"

"Yeah, she was here a couple years ago. I wish she would visit me," I sigh. "But I understand why she doesn't want to. Wynonna's my best friend. It's kind of cool, honestly. Not everyone gets along with the siblings." I chuckle at the last part.

"I can see why you two get along." She laughs at some unknown memory. "You two are pretty similar from what I've seen." She stops at the door to the visitation room and unlocks it.

"Baby!" Waverly practically jumps into my arms as soon as I step through the door. "I've missed you so much." She mumbles into my shoulder and tightens her grip on me.

"I've missed you too." I pull back just a little bit so I can see her face. "You've started eating. Waverly, you're starting to look like you again."
