“We’re really high up,” Zayn muttered nervously, looking over the ledge of the Empire State Building on Monday. The boys had planned on going sightseeing together today as part of their short holiday.
“Oh, Come On Zayn! You’ve gotta live hardcore to be hardcore,” Liam joked while patting Zayn on the back. “At least you don’t have to jump off!” Liam continued, referring to when he and Louis had bungee jumped off the Sky Tower in New Zealand.
Niall looked over the edge and laughed.
“We really are pretty high up here!” Niall said, laughing. His gaze shifted to Louis who had snuck up on Zayn. Louis stood behind him, about to shove Zayn to spook him. Zayn had confessed to a mild fear of heights and Louis, being himself, had to take the opportunity to prank Zayn. Louis looked over to Harry, who gave an approving nod while trying to hold back a smile.
“One, Two, Three,” Louis mouthed so Zayn couldn’t hear. He gave Zayn a little shove into the ledge.
Zayn started laughing and said “What was that for? You know I’m afraid of heights!” Louis gave a little shrug and laughed. He and Zayn loved pulling pranks on each other and were often described as “partners in crime.”
They’d been on the top of the building for about ten minutes now and it was easy to see that the guys began getting bored at looking at the skyline. It was also pretty chilly atop the fifteen-hundred foot building considering it was December and quite windy at that altitude. Paul thought it was time to go and asked the boys
“Ready to go now boys?” Everyone gave a nod and they all began walking towards the elevator to get back to ground level. Niall stole one last glance at the skyline, realizing that Marygrace was somewhere in this gigantic city. He couldn’t help but wonder if she might’ve been thinking of him at that very moment.
