Niall awoke to the sound of his Blackberry buzzing on the table next to him.  He wiped his eyes, stretched, and picked up his cellphone.  He had two new text messages.  Good morning babe! x the first read.  It was from MaryGrace.  Niall smiled and laughed to himself and began to type back.  Good Morning!  How are you? he typed back before hitting send.  The second message was from his mother, checking in to see how he was.

The clock read 10:30 and Niall could hear the traffic of New York City outside his window.  He got up to peer out the window.  There were about twenty fans outside the hotel, not too bad.  Niall wanted to go get some fresh air before they drove to the venue later.  He threw on some clothes, sunglasses, a snapback, and a scarf to go out.

Once in the lobby of the hotel, Niall repeated last night’s routine by sneaking out the back exit and rounding the corner.  The New York City air was crisp and cold, but was perfect for waking you up in the morning.  The sun was actually shining fairly bright for wintertime in NYC.  Niall felt his Blackberry vibrate in his pocket with a new text from MaryGrace.  I’m great!   Sun is shining and I believe we have a date later ;) .  Even her text messages made him smile.  He couldn’t wait to see her sitting there in the audience at one of his shows.  It almost seemed surreal, they’d only started talking a few months ago, but it felt like so long.  He continued walking while typing back to her.  Just woke up, and I think you’re right ;) What’s your curfew for tonight?

Niall took note of how far away from the London he was walking.  He wasn’t even supposed to be out without a bodyguard, but he was tired of being stuck inside all day and loved the city.  He still didn’t want to get lost, though.  After walking straight for about ten minutes or so, Niall crossed the street.  He began walking back the way that he had just come from when his phone buzzed again.  I told my parents about the concert and got a few extra hours.  Promised I’d be home by 2.  Can’t wait! she had said.  Niall lit up when he realized that he had extra time with MaryGrace tonight.  Awesome!  I’ll text you the details about today!  Niall sent the first message and promptly began typing out the rest of the information about the plan for the day.

MaryGrace was supposed to meet him backstage around 4 o’clock.  They would spend some time together before the VIP events and hang out backstage for a while before the concert started.  Niall sent her all of the information and placed his phone back in his pocket, along with his hands which were now getting cold.  He walked past all types of shops, restaurants, and stands on the street.  Cabs passed by, along with bicycles and pedestrians.  The City was alive with activity.

Niall walked past a stand of hats and scarves, but took a second look after a hat caught his eye.  He approached the stand to get a closer look.  It turned out that he was right, there was a Winnie the Pooh hat!  It had Pooh’s face on the top along with ear flaps and red and yellow pom poms.

“How much for this?” Niall asked the stand owner while gesturing to the hat.

“Ten dollars,” the woman replied with a cold tone.  Her face advertised a frown and scowling eyebrows.  Niall wondered what had made the woman upset this early in the day, but dismissed the thought.  Nothing was going to bring down his good mood today.

He pulled out his wallet and handed the woman eleven dollars.  She looked puzzled at first but, Niall winked.  Her frown turned upwards into a smile.  Niall was happy that such a simple gesture could change someone’s mood.  The woman put the hat in a plastic bag and thanked Niall.  He rolled up the plastic bag and stuffed it into his pockets.  He started walking again and was getting closer to the London hotel.  He was starting to get hungry and began walking a bit faster.

Once Niall reached the hotel, he took the elevator upstairs and knocked on the door to Liam’s hotel room.  He heard Liam yell “Be right there!” through the door.  The lock on the door clicked just before the door opened wide.  Liam stood there with a smile.

“Hey Nialler!  What’s Up?” he said gesturing for Niall to come in.  Niall stepped through the door and followed Liam to the couch.  They both sat down.

“Not much,” Niall began “I just woke up and went walking for a bit.  Have you and the lads eaten breakfast yet?”  He asked.

“Actually, We haven’t.  I think Paul said something about Breakfast in the dining room today,” Liam responded.  Once Liam had said that, Niall remembered, too.

“Right!  I think he said 11:30.  We should head down.” Niall said.  Liam got up from the couch and grabbed his room key off the coffee table.  Niall followed him out the door.  Liam tested the door handle, making sure to keep the room safe from anyone roaming the floor.  They both walked towards the elevator.  Liam reached over to push the button and they stood waiting for the next elevator to arrive.

“How’d everything go last night?” Liam asked with enthusiasm.  He had noticed that Niall had been smiling all morning and was really happy for him.  Upon the mention of the night before, color immediately filled up Niall’s cheeks.

“It went really well.” Niall said while looking at the ground, as a smile grew on his face.  “I don’t know, I just really like her,” Niall trailed off “a lot.”  Liam smiled at him.

“I’m so happy for you!  Are you gonna tell the boys soon?” Liam questioned him.  Niall hadn’t thought about that yet.

“Well, I actually gave her backstage passes for the concert tonight so I kind of have to!” Niall decided.  It didn’t really bother him to tell the rest of the lads.  It’s not like anything could go wrong.  It didn’t matter what they thought, anyway.  Niall was in love and that was all that mattered to him.
