falling for your smile was just an accident

it should have been an accident

nothing more

what usually was the quiet, became laughter and small talk with the boy who i met these past four nights, now a fifth.

"Okay, okay! Favorite color?"

"Pink!"

"Mine too!"

he held his breath as he gasped, a smile spreading through his face.

"Are you maybe my soulmate?"

"Oh Sanha, we only have one thing in common."

the boy turned his body on the bench and stared at me, his eyes fluttering, his lips curling up.

"I've always wanted a pretty girl to be my soulmate."

"Aish! Don't make me blush like that!"

even as i tried to look away, i couldn't. his smile was so captivating. he took his hand to his face and yawned as he spoke.

"What do you want to do when you grow up?"

"I'm all grown up Sanha."

"You're only 19 Nari! So am I!"

he giggled and pushed me lightly. i remember how big his smile was as he stared up at the night sky.

"I want to be a singer. A star!"

"You sing?"

"Yes! But I won't ever be a star."

he sounded so sad but then he shrugged. he turned to me and pointed.

"You should be a star."

"I don't like the idea of fame. I'd love to have my own flower shop though."

"Then chase your dream. Pursue it!"

he laughed and giggled as the bus came to a stop in front of us. i stood up and started to board but noticed he didn't walk for the bus.

"Are you not coming?"

"Nope! I'm going to dinner with my dad. I just came to see you."

i smiled and waved goodbye to him.

"Then I'll see you again Sanha."
