wanting to hold your hand wasn't a real feeling

it shouldn't have been a real feeling

nothing more

we somehow ended somewhere else, a much colder place than that faithful bus stop. it wasn't planned, like the rest of our meetings.

i am known to be very clumsy so i own a small first aid kit that i carry in my purse at all times. today, my supplies had run out in one of my worst injuries by far.

i sat on the open office of the doctor, waiting for him to come back and check on my foot. i could have sworn i broke it from how bad it hurt but he says i only sprained my ankle.

he gave me medication that made me really drowsy and said he'd be back with bandages for me to take home and wrap my ankle with. i was almost falling asleep when,

"We really have to be soulmates if we keep meeting like this."

i looked up to find a brunet boy, standing tall in front of me.

"Sanha? What are you doing here?"

he chuckled and sat next to me on the examining table.

"Visiting a friend. And you..? Well I see your foot's messed up."

i chuckled and was ready to do a snarky remark when he grabbed onto my hand and held it.

"You okay?"

"Yeah just... a little sad."

"Is your friend very sick?"

he nodded, a pout forming in his lips. he sniffled but chuckled.

"Isn't it sad when good people have to leave so soon?"

i squeezed his hand before rubbing circles onto the top of it. but what i thought would end in tears and sadness, didn't even end at all. he took a deep breath in and hummed while smiling, looking down at my foot.

"You're a clumsy one, aren't you?"

"Yeah..."

he laughed and laid his head on my shoulder.

"Don't worry, I'll be there to catch you when you fall."

the doctor came in and smiled at the both of us.

"Hello mister Yoon."

"Hey Doc."

i sadly smiled. the idea of a doctor knowing your name due to visiting a patient so much, pained me but at the same time, it made me glad. sanha was a good friend and came to support his friend, even if it made him sad.

"You'll be fine miss Han. Just ice your ankle and take this medication. If you continue to suffer from pain after three weeks, come back and I'll check on it again."

i nodded and thanked the doctor before standing up, limping my way out of the examination room, sanha acting as support.

"Are you still taking the bus?"

"I have no other way home."

as we made our way out the hospital, sanha stopped and hunched over. i stood there, waiting for him to stand up straight again from whatever he was doing.

"Well hop on! You can't walk all the way to the bus stop on that ankle."

i was ready to protest but he only got closer to me so i'd to get on his back. so i did.

he carried me on his back all the way to the bus stop, cracking jokes that made me laugh a bit too loud and laughing along to my laughter.

his laugh rung through my ears until the moment the bus came to a stop in front. he helped me up into the bus and sat next to me.

"I'll walk you home."

"There's no need."

he then smiled, staring into my eyes— those brown doe eyes always made me lose my train of thought, i remember.

"That's what boyfriends are supposed to do right?"

"That's what boyfriends are supposed to do right?"
