Once upon a time a girl didn't want to die.
"I haven't met my soulmate yet...I don't wanna die." the girl sobbed as she sat on the edge of the bridge, her feet dangling from it, as Death in the form of a young male leaned on the railings besides her and spoke.
"But it's your time...you need to die." he whispered to her.
Her eyes shined so brightly when she looked over at him for a second and he found himself thinking about that spark in them.
She wanted to live, it was as simple as that. So death took her hand and pulled her back on solid ground.
"Are you sure you want to live? Cause if you pick life now, I'm never coming back." he said and she pulled him in for a hug.
"Please...please...let me live." she whispered and something inside the mortal body Death took felt weird.
Something broke Death.
"But...you're ripping your soul out of my clutches forever. I'm never gonna take that bond back!" he hissed somewhat in distress, when he realized that he's not gonna have control over something in the universe.
"I know..." she said and rubbed at her damp cheeks "...I wouldn't want you to have it anyway." she said and turned around to leave Death behind.
She was only 20 back then.
She didn't know what a soulmate was, who her soulmate is. She knew nothing about life and death.
She didn't know that death would only come for her when her soulmate wasn't among the living anymore, but she was stubborn. So as years passed and realization dawned upon her once shining eyes, everything became so dull and grey.
Her hair lost it's glow, face lacked youth, lips got worn out from kissing all the wrong lips in her lifetime, and it has barely been 20 years since sweet Death left her to rot in a body too young for her heart and mind.
She was stuck on the 20th year of her life when she was counting as decades passed by. She watched people come and go, kids get born, her parents die, her siblings finding that special someone in their life and get married, but she was there.
Stuck as a constant in time and space. She was going no where.
20 years turned into 50, 50 turned into a 100 and then it doubled and she was already used to being invisible to people, hiding away from everyone, fearing that someone she met 50 years ago might see her, recognize her unchanging body and call her out on it.
It happened already when she was caught looking after her sister.
It was a cold Christmas day when she was seen through the window of the warm home.
"Y/N?" her sister came out of the house, cane in her hand supporting her old bones, because legs became far too weak to hold her up. Her face wrinkled up even more in an attempt to hold back tears.
"You never came back home...we never saw you again. I lived my whole life without my older sister. I never even wished for that to happen, I wouldn't wish that upon anyone." she cried and fell into the snow.
"Get up miss...please." she acted like a stranger when her sisters children and grandchildren ran out of the house to look for grandma.
She didn't let her act go even when the ambulance came and helped the old lady calm down. She didn't give herself away even when she saw her sister getting getting a ride to the mental hospital, because she was declared a crazy old lady.
Since then she has been living in the shadows of any person she comes across. Hiding during sun out and walking in the lonely nights, calling for death, for anything to take her away from this suffering.
One night she was sitting in the bathtub of her small run down apartment. It's the only thing she could call home, it was the basement of her parents old house.
It was long left behind, no one cared for it anymore, and she broke into it years ago. Her bed was a mattress in the middle of the room, besides the fire she lit up every night to warm up water for her bath.
The water she poured into the dirty tub has cooled down long ago, it was barely lukewarm. But it was comforting, it was warmer than the winters in her heart.
She took a small pocket knife and slit it from her wrist to her elbows, over her whole forearm.
"Come on sweet death...sweet...death." she sand some imagined tune that bounced off of the tiles as the blood started to warm up the water again, but all she could feel was cold, cold, and cold...just getting colder every second.
"You called?" the same boy from years ago was leaning on the frame of the bathroom door.
"Yea...I did Suga..." she said and smiled weakly.
"Suga?", "I picked it as your human name...sweet Death...Suga...get it?" she chuckled and got a small smile from him. He sat on the floor, leaning on the tub and dipping his fingers in the crimson liquid.
"I told you that you'll never be able to return from what you wished for back then."
"I know. Sometimes it just feels good to feel pain. I reopened these wounds so many times." she blinked slowly and a tear rolled down her cheek.
"They always heal. Every morning I wake up again, no blood, no cut...no less alive than the morning before." she sobbed and he brushed wet strands of hair out of her face.
"Death hurts less than living...I warned you that night, but you were to blind to see what I meant. Life without a soulmate hurts even more."
"You knew huh?" she chuckled bitterly and he nodded silently. "I just wish...I wish I had another chance." she said and he smirked "Another chance for death? What a morbid sentence." he said and she looked over at him.
"I wish I had another chance to look Death into his eyes, and say that I'm ready to die...that I did it all. I'm ready for that finally kiss that will take my soul away." she said and the spark she once had was gone, all Death saw now was a dull darkness, something cold, something horrible and he decided he wanted that even more.
So she got her chance to look Death in the eyes one more time before her soul left her body with one kiss.
Her suffering was over.
Okay I was gone for some time. But I have all these ideas and no time to write them so like...im stuck. idk. i hope you like this depressing piece of shit.
