You glanced down at your phone vibrating on the tiled bathroom floor, your eyes doubling in size at the name on the screen.
"Hoseok?" you whispered into the silent air around you, nothing else but the drops of water from the faucet ringing through the room.
With trembling fingers you swiped over the screen to answer the call.
"H-Hello?"
"Are you okay?" the voice from the phone snapped you back to reality.
It wasn't Hoseok, it couldn't be Hoseok. He's dead.
But the voice on the other end held the same concern in it that Hobi's voice once did.
"Hello? Is anyone there?" he spoke again as you stared down at the screen before putting it on loud speaker.
"Yea..." you spoke lightly "...I'm here."
"Did you swallow the pills? Please call 911 if you did. You shouldn't end your life like this." the quiet plea made something stir in your chest.
"What if I did?"
You weren't sure what you were doing. Testing this stranger? Challenging him?
"No matter what he was to you, he doesn't deserve your life. For some twisted reason he had to die, but you don't. You still have a choice." he said with a sternness in his voice that wasn't there before.
"Call 911 if you swallowed those pills." were the last words he said before hanging up.
You looked over at the full bottle of pills before getting up from the bathtub and rinsing away the foam from your body.
After wrapping a towel around yourself, you grabbed your phone and sighed as you looked down at the messages that the unknown boy sent you before the call.
You laid back on the bed and wrote one last text to him.
Don't text me and call me anymore. Lose my number.
And thank you.
And just like you asked, he never did. Never even answered the text. So just like he lost your number, you deleted his.
1 year and 5 months later
You woke up early today, managed to watch a episode of your favorite show while chilling in your big bed.
Actually had time to eat breakfast before work and redo your eyeliner four times before the wing was perfect.
Mornings like this are something that forced a smile on your face instead of the other way around.
Because forcing a smile when you're not happy eventually turned into a real one. You had friends, family, reasons to smile.
You got dressed in a plain flannel shirt and a pair of black pants, before stepping into your sneakers and rushing off outside.
The thing is, you did work in a big company. They had something to do with management or marketing or whatever, not your issue.
Luckily, you skipped over all the frowns and pissed moods most of the time, cause you worked on the seventh floor.
The IT sector or rather tech support.
Working up there was better than sitting in the CEO's office, going through meetings all the time, and doing someone else's paperwork.
