Births are a blessing.
Births of a heir would be an even bigger blessing, if only the queen had given birth to a boy.
But in that sad week of defeat, three tragedies struck the castle and no one would have said they'd happen earlier.
When people would see Queen Nari and her most trusted servant Heiryung a week earlier, you'd think that they would give birth and let the kids grow up together, but it all ended in too much spilled blood in the royal walls.
The two soon to be mothers would walk together in the gardens, feeling each others children kick and quietly letting a friendship blossom.
Only a week later the queen gave birth.
It was to a adorable baby girl, born with dark hair that turned fluffy right after her first bath.
Her eyes were dark blue as they are with every tiny child right after birth, like two marbles that held the ocean within them.
It didn't cry much, it was abnormally peaceful for such a small being.
But none of those qualities changed the fact that the queen gave birth to a girl.
It didn't help the kingdoms situation in any way.
With King Kangdae on his death bed for the past month, it was only a matter of time when the officials began to tear the royal family apart in their attempt to throw the Jung's off of the throne.
Merely two days after the so called first tragedy Dawon was born, the servant Jung Heiryung went into labor too.
Queen Nari let jealousy overtake her when the father of the child ran to be with his wife during the birth of the child.
The father was sergeant Jung Ho.
He was well respected in the kingdom, earned a rank early in life after overtaking his late fathers role at a young age.
His love with Heiryung blossomed the moment he stepped in the castle and began following the young servant around the castle aimlessly trying to strike up a conversation.
Marriage was a natural choice for the two, but it never took them away from their own respected duties.
Heiryung kept cooking and cleaning for the Queen and Ho kept going to wars and bravely served the king, earning himself a lot of respect.
The sight of the usually stone cold man worrying besides his wife angered the queen more than it should have, especially since the king was unable to take care of her.
The next trigger of jealousy came when the midwife spoke to the two and told them to start picking a name for their boy.
Jealousy takes a tool on the person and it took only one day for Nari to stand in the way of happiness.
When Heiryung went to check on her child the following day she was met with an empty crib and her panicked breaths were stopped when she heard a commotion in the great hall not far from her room.
"I will never willingly give my child up my lord, I apologize for your tragedy, but I'm not willing to sacrifice my own blood for you!" Ho's voice rang through the hall and Heiryung ran through the door only to see the child crying in Queen Nari's arms.
"I did not ask for your permission sergeant, I'm telling you what will be done. If you wish to have a child I will gladly offer Dawon to you." the king spoke to which the queen shook her head.
